Audi will reduce costs for the development of new cars
Audi has announced layoffs. About 4,500 people will be left without work.
At the same time, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said that this will not affect areas that are directly related to car production. In particular, specialists from departments specializing in new developments will be subject to layoffs: more than 2,000 jobs are planned to be eliminated here alone.
The company was led to this decision by a difficult financial situation. The operating profit of Volkswagen subsidiary Audi fell by 91% in the third quarter to €106,000,000. The company's managers explain this by "very intense price competition in Europe and China." Earlier, we reported that the German brand also intends to close its plant in Brussels at the beginning of 2025, where the electric crossover Q8 e-tron is assembled.
