Triumph’s 1908 Roadster represented a development of the 1906 model, on which the renowned rocking front forks were introduced.In 1907, the engine’s capacity was increased to 453cc and rated at 3½hp but it was available only with magneto ignition. At the first Isle of Man Tourist Trophy race in 1907, Jack Marshall and Frank Hulbert finished second and third, respectively, in the single cylinder class on Triumphs. In 1908 the engine capacity was increased again to 476cc, while still rated at 3½hp. This 1908 Roadster features acetylene lighting and was originally sold new into the Wairarapa farming community in the lower North Island of New Zealand.
