Seller Description

Very clean, very original, matching numbers 1948 Indian Chief in first class running condition. Odometer shows just over 2100 miles, but actual mileage is unknown. The previous owner says the engine was rebuilt by a friend of his who builds flat-head Fords to run at Bonneville. The engine work included porting and polishing inlets, new valve springs, high-compression pistons, high-lift cams with lightened followers, arebuilt distributor and rebuilt Bonneville carb.Less than 500 miles have been put on the bike since the rebuild. Anew wiring harness and ignition switch from Jerry Greer's Indian have recently been installed, plus a new battery. Original horn and all lights, including Indian head on front fender, in good working order.

Paint work is excellent overall, some patina on chrome and fasteners, including some rust on front fork springs. Tires are in good condition but a brand new set of Shinko wide whites are included.
