Seller Description

I purchased
this 1951 Chief 31 years ago as a complete, running, original bike with a bad
older paint job. I did a complete, correct restoration using all the original
factory main components including all the sheet metal. The only reproduction
parts used are the wheel rims, spokes, wiring, exhaust and some of the rubber. I added
some NOS parts from my stash including the fender light, instrument panel,
luggage rack, tank emblems, air cleaner cover and some rubber parts. It has matching frame and
engine numbers and the engine case stamping numbers match. I have a clear
Florida title in hand.
It was
judged by the AMCA first receiving Junior 1st followed by Senior and
subsequently it was awarded 14 Winners Circle plaques.

I rode it with my wife
on the back to meets, events and road runs all over the eastern part of the
country and put about 25K miles on it. It has always been very carefully
maintained and today I think it still looks good enough for more Winners Circle
plaques. Recently I did a complete top end overhaul, installed new Firestone
tires and a new lithium ion battery with the regulator converted to electronic.
I also installed a ’52-53 longer kicker arm for easier starting. The original
will be included. It runs and rides beautifully and it can confidently be
ridden anywhere, any time at interstate speeds. It is a joy to ride.
It has spent
the last 10 years mostly stored and covered in my dehumidified garage, coming
out 2 or 3 times a year for short rides out to lunch and such.
I have
decided to sell it now (reluctantly) because my role in life over the last few
years has changed to human care-giver, and I faced the realization that my wife
and I won’t be taking anymore long trips on it. If you’re looking for an
investment grade Indian 80 that you can ride and enjoy with confidence you
won’t find a better one.
