Seller Description

1954 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe NEWPORT
THIS IS A 2-DOOR, NO POST / 1954 was LAST YEAR OF THIS SOUGHT AFTER BODY STYLE. INCREASINGLY HARD TO FIND 1954 MOPAR... Automatic, 2-Door NO POST FACTORY-INSTALLED CONTINENTAL KITThose unfamiliar with the Newport sub-model, it is a low production 2-door with no side pillars... It appears fully open on side with windows down. Much sportier look, more desirable to own today.
Few Windsor Deluxe Newport went into production, compared to the 4 door or even the 2 door coupe. it was a matter of economics. If you were buying a Windsor series Chrysler you were usually not looking to spend Chrysler New Yorker type money. The factory starting price in 1954 for the Windsor Deluxe Newport was just under $2,900. not including options. Ford in 1954 was selling cars from about $1,550.00 to $2,600.00 so, the owner definitely paid a premium to step it up a notch. Based on this car's serial # [hidden information], this was a Detroit built early year car. (1954 production year was from October 1953 up to November 1954)
The power flite two-speed automatic transmission was an expensive option in 1954 (three-speed manual transmission came standard).Power steering was also considered a significant option. You could almost get into a base New Yorker for the price of a Windsor Deluxe Newport with these two options alone. Radio was a $101.00 option. If this car came with the original wire spoke rims, they are not on it now.
1954 was when Chrysler opened its Chelsea proving grounds and the test drivers teamed up with Tony Bettenhausen to complete a 24 hour endurance run of 2,836 miles averaging 118.18 M.P.H. (for the trivia lovers)1954 produced a total 3,655 Windsor Newport hardtops. By comparison the four-door Windsor delivered 33,563 that year, making the Windsor Deluxe Newport stand out among its peers. Windsor Deluxe Newport is Not restored, Not ready to drive cross country, has not been started in 2 years... but very complete, and overall, excellent start for a very nice restore, resto-mod, or finish as is. NO GAMES Please... SOLD AS IS.... located near LANCASTER, SOUTH CAROLINA.
Replaced carb, plugs, and plug wires, coil, battery, and a little wiring, among other things.
It was starting, running and lot driving about 2 years ago. Wanted to replace the old fabric worn wiring with all new wiring harness and convert to 12v system from 6v, replace tires, headliner and paint it. I know we did brake work but don't remember specifics... and likely muffler. (detail list is missing...so can't say)Have too many projects in front of this one to get to it before next year.... Been saying that for over a year now...time to face the piper.

Very Complete1954 Newport with solid straight body. Most of the brightwork is in excellent condition and looks to be all there. Chrysler Spitfire six cylinder 264-CUI engine was running 2 years ago, No reason to believe it won't start with little effort. All glass is intact. All windows roll up and down. Pictures speak for themselves. This is the kind of project you like to find, Just wish it was a convertible.
This 54 MOPAR will provide a very cool finished product. Local or across the country this one is worth owning.
Needs some Love and Attention for sure, but this will definitely be aGREAT Windsor Deluxe Newport for someone. Old original title from Oklahoma comes with the car. No Modern day title.
