Seller Description

I bought this about 9 years ago. When it came off of the truck in Texas, we kicked it about four times and took turns riding it around the office yard (12 acres of grass, gravel and asphalt). It had a current California off road sticker on it and had allegedly been ridden it’s entire life. It was a fun afternoon. I put badly needed tires on it, removed the Preston Petty front and rear plastic fenders (I am old enough to have put these on a couple of DT 1s and 2s. They were ugly even then) and played hard and often. Then about 4 years ago I decided I would do a little light cosmetic cleanup, more new tires, and add a head and tail light with a small total loss battery under the seat and get a license plate for some back road bombing. Other projects intervened. I have just recently finished the cleanup reassembly absent the lights for this sale. This bike will come with some interesting documented history. In the generation of men just ahead oh the Malcolm Smith/Steve McQueen day a gentleman named Jim Hunter held a 225mph land speed record in 1958 and was a National TT Champion in 1966 and 1967. He owned a British bike shop in La Habra, California. Hunter was not only a known racer and builder but an innovator. Accompanying this bike is a Hunter BSA maintenance manual (see photo) and a photo of the way Hunter marked his desert front ends. This hub has his signature inside of it as in the photo. This was either his bike or one of his serious racing competitor customers. Also you will see and receive a copy of the dyno sheet done June 24, 1955 on this bike for (upper left) none other than Hap Alzina. This may have been a Hap Alzina racer. In addition to the new low pipe I found somewhere, also included will be the high pipe and “muffler” on it when I received and was riding it. There are also a batch of misc fender brackets and set of new grips. The pegs were built by me for riding. They woulda loved em in 1960. You may want some much less competent but more correct rubber slippers. The frame number is CB32.2912; motor DB.34.GS.350; trans SC T. The books would indicate these were all proper numbers for 1955 Gold Star Scrambler. Best luck.

Shipping is on you but I will certainly facilitate on my end. The bike is at my Michigan home, 49949. You can make a $500 PayPal non refundable deposit immediately after the auction. Payment terms to be established (wire, cashier’s check, cash). If you are close and would like to come see it let me know. Pictures represent it well. No reserve.
