Description
You are bidding on one of the finest examples of the world famous British roadster. The sculpted beauty of this classic 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 is far more rare than the later 3000 model and has more graceful turn signals, taillights, top storage, and accents. This roadster combines the best of two worlds: elegant early-car looks with the power of the 3000 6-port head model. Of course lets not forget about the very desirable "Healey Blue" color!
This roadster was acquired in Marion, VA as a nearly rust free and well kept family heirloom that was lovingly cared for since 1985. That owner purchased it from a british car dealer in Myrtle Beach, SC who stated that the car came from sunny California. It was transferred to British Auto Restorations, LLC in Roanoke, VA where it received a complete evaluation which consisted of a compression check, hydraulics inspection, electrical inspection, frame and body evaluation, etc.. They provided the new owner with a detailed written report showing 160-170 psi compression, 50+ psi of oil pressure, 18-18.5" Hg intake manifold vacuum at just under 1000rpm, and operating temp of 140 degrees.
Even with all of these positive results from the evaluation, that owner had decided to go ahead and perform a complete professional ground up restoration with absolutely no expense spared. All receipts, documentation, certificates, etc.. All in hand! Over $60K in work. The restoration work was carried out as such: The entire car was disassembled piece by piece by the family run professionals at British Auto Restorations, LLC. Each item was cataloged, individually restored to new condition, and shelved for future installation. The body was media blasted to bare metal top, bottom, inside and out. What little rust or corrosion was found was fixed with new metal formed in their shop. After many coats of primers and sanding, the final color was applied - this being the very sought after genuine Austin Healey blue (rare & expensive). Only after the body was painstakingly returned to new condition did the reassembly process begin. The shocks & suspension were completely rebuilt, coated, and reinstalled along with new front disc brake upgrade. Every nut, bolt, and cotter pin is new or has been individually re-plated, re-coated, or re-anodized, as required to be as-new. This is a very detailed car - notice the correct red hand painted fan shroud as original. The original overdrive transmission was partly disassembled, inspected, tolerance - checked, reassembled, and painted the correct Austin Healey color as new. A correct cloth covered wiring harness was installed as were all hoses and interior air ducts. The interior received the same attention to detail: Dynomat material was installed on the firewall and floors prior to the carpet to deaden sound & control heat. All seating was covered in gorgeous blue leather with white piping, as were the dashboard and door panels. The car does come with a matching new top, tonneau, and side curtains with sliding windows. Five new wire wheels have been installed as well as a stainless steal exhaust system. The ignition system on this roadster was converted over to electronic, as well as the clutch fan being replaced to a cooling fan. With that being said, she starts up on a dime and she runs absolutely perfect without skipping a single beat! It literally runs smoother than most new cars out on the market right now!
There is so much to rant on about on this beauty, the pictures & video we have do not do this car justice. Once the sun hits that color it shines like a rare Rubi!
