Seller description
1957 Nash Ambassador Farino Custom - No Reserve Auction!
Rare Farino Custom Model, rare factory air conditioner, rare continental kit, rare dual exhaust.
I purchased this Ambassador, along with two others, 17 years ago for my father. Ambassadors were his favorite cars! However, he died before I could show it to him. Guess it's time to move on.I worked to restore the car for several years, but lost interest after the starter died and I could not remove it because of the duel exhaust. It has been in dry storage for the past 17 years.
The Good: As far as I can tell, the car came out of Georgia. The body panels seem to be fairly good. The legendary AMC 327 engine appears to have been rebuilt, but no guarantees. See the pictures of the rocker arms. The car has factory installed Air Conditioning - very rare for a 1957 Nash. The car has a rare Continental Kit - not many of these around any more! The car has duel exhaust - also rare for a 1957 Ambassador. The carb was rebuilt about 15 years ago and was only used once before the starter died. The front seat has the original plastic cover on it and the fabric looks like new. All of the glass is in excellent condition. The car still has the original hub caps - very rare. The chrome is decent, but not excellent. All of the plastic light covers are in very good condition - difficult to find today. The doors and door posts appear to be in good condition. The headliner is in decent condition. The trunk seems to be in pretty good condition - see the pictures. The tires have good tread and are not dry rotted - however, they will need to be replaced. The car ran good before the starter died.
The Bad: As I said, the starter was partially removed but I couldn't get it out of the car. The rear frame has been patched but I can't tell how extensive the damage is. The right front door sticks some - not too bad, but thought I should mention it. If you look closely, you can find some body work here and there - not sure how extensive. The fabric on the rear seat is frayed - it looks like a dog may have pawed it. The power steering pump will need to be rebuilt or replaced. The speedometer was removed because the needle was broken - it was never replaced. The hood hinges were removed because the hood wouldn't close. The hinges look good but will need to be lubed or replaced. The radio and clock were cannabolized and put in another Ambassador. The car needs new door seals - normal for a 63 year old car.
Note - The car will have to be trailered as it does not run. The car is being sold as, where is, with no warranty, express or implied.
Payment - Cash, certified check or wire transfer. The car will not be released until the funds clear. A $500.00 deposit must be made within 24 hours of the end of the sale.
