Seller Description
1958 BSA Golden Flash. Original
paint, matching numbers bike, with 7641 ACTUAL miles. Miles may change slightly as the bike is
ridden this spring. The bike is an
unrestored original and even retains most of the oem Whitworth fasteners. It is
in very good condition for an over 60 year old bike. It runs great and
everything works down to the horn. Usually a 1-3 kick bike depending on
how long it’s been sitting. Can sit all
winter and still start on a couple kicks in the Spring. Typically one kick when warm. Runs and idles perfect with no smoke or weird
sounds. The tank is excellent for the age. No dents or dings or rust on the tank- just
some very small nicks or scratches in the original paint that aren't visible in
the pictures. Most of the original
chrome is very nice. There is some
pitting on the optional chrome taillight trim. Also, the chrome on the original
Jones rims is blistering and flaking as seen in the pictures- this is really
the only significant cosmetic defect on the bike.
The spokes appear to be made
from some sort of alloy and are oxidized a bit but are not rusted and the rims
are true and hold a good seal. Tires are excellent. The bike comes with both a
nice aftermarket seat and the original seat that is in mint condition as seen
in the pics. The headlight works great but onlyoperates on the
bright setting which, on an old 6 volt system,is the only setting you
need. It is a "matching numbers" bike. The frame number is a
late 1957 number and the motor number is an early 1958 number. I did my homework when I purchased the bike
years ago and obtained copies of the BSA factory records from the vintage
motorcycle club in Staffordshire, England to confirm that the motor and frame
did in fact leave the factory as a matching pair. The VMC documentation will be
included with the bike. The motor does have the optional "HC" (high
compression) stamp. The bike does drip some oil- more so from the gearbox than
the motor. The original manual
andservice sheets come with the bike. This is a rare opportunity to own
an original paint and well sorted pre-unit BSA A10 with matching numbers, documented
low mileage, and great natural patina that you only find in an original
unrestored machine. Buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping but I will be glad to cooperate with the shipper you select.
