This 1958 Harley Panhead is a rare original custom paint bike from Harley Davidson. It was purchased new at Gowanda Harley Davidson in New York. Harley offered custom color paint options starting in 1926. The paint has been measured with a paint thickness tester and shows 1-2 mils on all color panels. If you follow the auction sales you will see Todd recently sold his famous original paint 1940 Harley knucklehead called "Greenie" at Mecum for $220,000 I measured his bike paint after the auction and it was the same paint thickness as my Panhead listed here. This bike was recently judged in 2019 at an AMCA meet as original condition bike and scored an amazing 98 1/4 points! Deductions listed on the judging form was .5 for paint patina and .5 for bright work patina. Also 1/4 point for wrong muffler bracket, 1/4 point chrome brake pedal, and 1/4 point for missing gen end cover (replaced now). The bike has matching belly numbers and nice original engine vin. Everything works including all the lights and speedometer, miles cannot be confirmed. Only tires and battery non original but good copy.
1958 is the first year for the Duo-Glide swing arm rear suspension, two brush generator, larger head fins and first year rear hydraulic brake. The bike also has factory options for super soft seat, turn signals, finned front cooling brake ring, and oil tank gauge.This would make a great bike for road runs, motorcycle shows or museum collection. Will add a few more detailed photos soon. Can hold for your shipper as needed. Various shippers can take it right to your door anywhere in the lower USA reasonably. Will only leave my shop when paid in full. Inspections are available only by appointment.

On Jul-21-20 at 17:16:05 PDT, seller added the following information:Not visible in photos is the Harley bar and shield logo on the windshield, T-3 stamped headlamp, mirrors are embossed with Harley Davidson on the stems,as they should be, and I have receipt for a recent speedometer rebuild, guts only, from one the best, John Bordas . I was not able to photo the inside of the gas tank but probably the most incredible original parkerized finish I have ever seen for the age of this bike. Most are all rusty and nasty, not this boy!
