I operate a motorcycle shop in Ct @ 203 531 5252 and take pride in my work and reputation.
I get a great deal of pleasure when I can offer a really nice original bike for sale. This BMW R 50/2 has all the markings of an original unrestored near perfect example of the Earles fork slash two era.
I am likely the third owner. The man whom I bought it from had it almost 50 yrs.He was a regular here at the shop.The bike's been in New England a long time. Under the front engine cover is Phil Cheney's signature. Phil recently retired from Max BMW after working many years as one of the best BMW guys in the field. There are no service records to go with this bike, however it has been cared for and kept up over the years.It sounds great. everything works properly.The air filter clam shell was separated and repainted the air choke lever now works too.Most of these choke controls are frozen in place .There are no nagging issues to address.
I took the Craven luggage rack & bag brackets off, the tags said Slegers Whippany NJ. It didn't have the bags when I got it. I also don't know why it has the numbers on the front fender. I left them on because I thought it added to the history and mystery. The paint work is original with the pin stripers monogram under the left front gas tank panel.
The foot pegs have little wear on them. The seat is without rot or tears. The metal strap wire ties under the tank have rust on them. The alloy rims have no scratches or cracks or road rash. The spokes are not the best but certainly not that bad.The exhaust system is solid no rust or rot on the underside.Its got a nice deep sump oil pan.The side stand is easy to flick up or down. The horn is loud.The grips were replaced as they often split.I've owned it and enjoyed it often. It came with the Metzeler tires on it now.
Once I decide to sell it, I thought I'd try to take care of the small details and things that would make it even nicer to look at.
The work we did was really a make over with some painting of the cylinders, soda blasted the heads etc.

. including new stainless pushrod tubes and rubber seals. The top end gaskets are all new too.80% of the original nuts bolts screws , shock cups and adjusters ,axles etc.. were recad plated here in Bridgeport Ct.
The carbs have the newest float needle and seat conversion.We cleaned and cleaned and polished this machine twice . With some priming and a bit of throttle it starts on the first kick. It always did.Original is what I want to emphasize.It's not a pop tart refake.I see a lot of high priced $$ post auction deliveries here in this shop. They arrive here before the new owners take over. I often have to let down the buyer with the facts.Buy this with confidence.
