Seller Description

Barn Find!! 1964 Lincoln Continental Hardtop
Rescued and ready for your imagination.First and foremost this rescued barn find Continental is incredibly straight. Unreal just how long and straight the body lines are on this suicide slab are especially when accented with all that chrome. Everything from the factory is there and all original. The vehicle was parked 25 years ago when the brakes were not operating correctly. I discovered a broken brake line along the back axle which may be why it was parked so long ago. Low Kilometers. Yes Kilometers. The odometer and speedometer are both metric. I was told its was built for a service member stationed in Germany who shipped it back to Washington after being re-stationed at Ft. Lewis. Regrettably no paperwork is available to support the seller (2nd owners) story. He purchased the vehicle 4 decades ago. The vehicle has collector plates so no emission test required. Included in this sale is an additional set of all four doors (no door panels but the glass is good in 3 of them) and an extra front grill half. All the chrome is there and its all super straight.

All of the glass is perfect. The interior is fair. Time has faded some areas on the seats and 1 door armrest in spots. A few minor tears on the drivers seat seatback. (see pics)The dash has no cracks of any kind and the instrument panel looks factory fresh. There are the few typical rust spots. The trunk deck lid on the passengers side has a rust hole with bubbling in the surrounding area. Above the rear wheel wells there are bubbling spots with a few along the bottom of the doors(don't forget included in this sale are the 4 extra doors) I replaced a tire that couldn't hold air to make moving the vehicle around easier. All the tires will need to be replaced to be completely road safe. Other than the dome light and radio no other electronic system is currently operating(windows, seats, antenna, door-locks). I concluded the 430ci engine was still healthy after examining all the fluids and the ease at which I was able to turn the engine over on the front fan with a small ratchet. The original carburetor was intact but sustained corrosion from the length of time parked. I removed the carburetor and inspected the intake ports which looked great and rust free. I then ordered a period correct rebuilt Carter four barrel replacement carburetor w/ warranty. While waiting for the carb, I installed a new distributor cap, rotor, points, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, new oil, ground and battery cables. With the new parts and the rebuilt carb mounted I then provided a secondary fuel source and battery. It fired up on the second try. That was pretty thrilling moment! Next I removed the fuel tank and had it professional cleaned and relined. I also cleaned the fuel sending unit and replaced the filter and added fresh fuel. Now the vehicle starts right up on its own and shifts smoothly into reverse and drive for short rides in the driveway. The reason the vehicle can slow down is because one of the drum brakes still grabs just a tad. Next step is the brakes and that is where I am pumping the brakes on this project. It is at this point in the road where the restorer decides whether to stay original or go the restomod route. Keep original drum or go the with a disc brake option? Keep original master cylinder or go the dual-master route? Newer wheels or roll with the original hubcaps which I have and are perfect? Airbags or original suspension? These are the decisions you the buyer get to make. Its all there!! It just needs your vision and style. I still have the original carburetor which is included in this sale (plus the 4 extra doors and half front grill). The vehicle will need to be towed. I can potentially assist with local delivery. I hope this description answers all potential questions. Please email me with any additional questions or to set up a viewing. More photos will be added soon of the surface rust and bubbling , plus the extra set of matching doors. Email me and I will send a video of it running. I promise to answer any questions the absolute best I can. Battery not included in sale.Best wishes on a winning bid
