Seller Description

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback for saleThe Ford Mustang is just one of those cars that resonates with people, they are drawn to them. They are one of those cars that just seem to provoke emotion within people and they have a hugely loyal following because of it. 1965 was where the legacy began, and this was the one that everyone wanted to own, the fastback. Prices on these bad boys in recent years have shot up higher than the bar tab at the work Christmas party when the boss goes home. They are extremely popular cars among collectors and enthusiasts and while there are a fair few out there, finding good ones can sometimes be harder than it seems. This is an awesome example of a 1965 Mustang Fastback.

Built in San Jose in California, the car came off the production line on the 8th of June, 1965. A C Code 289ci V8, 2+2 Fastback in Poppy Red with Black trim and a C-4 Automatic transmission. The car was sold new around the corner from the factory in San Jose and was a Californian car before being imported to Australia in 2010. The original little 2V 289 V8 was removed from the car and replaced with a brand new 302ci short roller motor. The engine was then treated to a range of brand new goodies including Patriot alloy heads, Scorpion roller rockers, Roll Master timing chain set, Edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold, a Pro Race Ext balancer, ARP head bolts, Comp Cams 281HR Cam with hydraulic lifters, Kilkenny Castings timing cover, sealed power bearings and Fel-Pro gaskets all round. The transmission is the original C4 Automatic with floor shifter and there is a 9” diff with tru-trac centre under the rear. Helping to pull everything up was tasked to disk brakes which have been upgraded to include a power booster and dual master cylinder. Combining the upgraded brakes with power steering ensures that the car is as nice to drive as it is to look at. Helping to keep the car cool it a new alloy Hi-Flo water pump. Spark is provided by a MSD 6AL Digital ignition system with blaster coil. Fuel delivery is taken care of by a Holley 110gph mech fuel pump feeding a Quick fuel 600 Carb with electric choke. The body on the car is extremely nice and has been carefully repainted in its original Poppy Red colour, a shade that was unique to 1965 only. The panels are straight and the gaps are even around the car. The car has been upgraded with a GT style rear valance with the exhaust tips poking through the back. The underside of the car is also very neat with nice solid floor pans. The chrome bumpers are near flawless front and rear and the back has been upgraded with LED style tail lights with amber indicators. The car sits on a set of Eleanor style 17” wheels with imitation knock off caps to complete the look.Inside the car is in very good condition in the correct black colour with bucket seats. On top of all this, air conditioning is fitted under the dash to keep you cool when out banging gears on those hot summers days. The gauges are all in good condition as is the optional center console.A great example of a nicely restored and well maintained 65 fastback Mustang. This iconic car has some fantastic upgrades that make sure it’s way more fun to drive than the car ever was when it left the factory. The extra power under the hood, along with the comforts of an auto transmission, power brakes, power steering and air conditioning make this Pony a must have!NEW STOCK DROPS THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH AND THE DOORS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC 8AM TO 2PM.
