Seller Description

1965 Honda Superhawk CB77. 8,728 original miles. Runs strong, everything works. Clear MA title. Currently inspected and on the road. I absolutely hate to let this go, its one of my favorite all time bikes - but too many horses in the stable.
The good - this is a numbers matching original bike. The engine starts and runs very well and the bike is ridden every week. New tires (Shinko SR712F) and tubes, correctly sized for original rims. New chain, air filter elements, engine oil, fork oil, brake pads, clutch and brake cables (front and rear). Everything works - headlight, brights, neutral light, bright indicator, turn signals, horn, brake light, starter. New Motobatt 12V battery. Seat has been re-covered but has original seat pan, chrome band, passenger hand strap, and foam. Engine covers have been re-painted with high temperature Honda Cloud Silver from Marbles Motors. Rear fender has been repainted. Other than those items all paint and patina is as shown from 1965. The gas tank is still running its original black paint, has not been lined and is very clean inside. Both carbs sonic cleaned and rebuilt with original parts. Although chrome pitted, both original mufflers are solid and working nicely. To the extent possible I used all Honda parts for all necessary replacements.
The less than good - like all CB77s, this bike is a bit cold tempered and really likes to be warmed up before both cylinders are happiest. That said, I feel that the engine is starting to show its 8,000+ miles and if I were keeping the bike I would freshen up the top end. It does not burn oil, but it's not as 'crisp' as I would like it.

Also a super hawk trait, the 4-speed transmission can be a little less than smooth when down shifting through neutral. Again, I ride this bike every week and love it but its not as smooth shifting as my CB450 for instance. The chrome is pitted and the 1965 paint job is showing its age. One of the two seat bolts is missing. There is a small dent in the left side fork cover. The speedometer backplate plate is somewhat faded from the sun. There is no kickstart lever, although the mechanism works. After a long ride there is a slight oil drip from the right side cover which I believe is from one of the oil seals, but I have not been able to track it down. Also, as you can hear on this video there is an engine 'whine' with the clutch out if you let off the throttle. I have not been able to track this down but it does not seem to impact performance. You can ride this bike right out my driveway and for local buyers riding it home is certainly an option. However, this bike is really an excellent candidate for someone who wants to complete a Superhawk restoration on a really nice survivor vehicle.
I can assist with loading for buyers requiring shipment.
