Seller Description

At age 77, I have "retired" from the restoration business , and am enjoying life, and trying to get on track more while I still can, . I have sold two of my shop buildings, and eliminated most employees, and no longer do outside work. While I finish up several of our special cars, I am occasionally offering some of these projects in their current state. This is a good opportunity to own and restoreone of the very desirable ( and high value) Morgan TWO SEAT Plus 4 's..
selling here on ebay with NO
RESERVE
Because there is NO woodwork to deal with, this is a straight-forward project that I believe
anyone with reasonable skills can complete without
frustration.
1965 Morgan Plus4 VIN 5940
Engine # CT 2562 E mileage 30413 I bought this car several years ago from a Morgan lover who
dreamed of having a Light-Weight Morgan Plus4 to Vintage race, and
began this project.... but health issues ended his dream.
Although the car had low miles and was in good condition, he
ordered a new body , a NEW lightweight
alloy body from Morgan Spares with
all new woodwork,
including properly hinged new doors. It cost $ 6500 as pictured in
blue primer. He began carefully removing the fenders, body, etc. in
preparation for a complete race-build.
As can be seen by the photos when we acquired it several years
ago, all of the instruments, dash, and other components were in very
nice original condition...VERY nice. The engine had been sent out
for some block and head machine work. The correct Moss transmission
is still installed in the rolling chassis, which includes 5 wire
wheels in very good condition, with tires that are old, but have
held air as long as we have had it, and would look good on display
at car shows.
Upon delivery to our shop, we found the car to be pretty complete,
except for the seat, steering wheel, and windshield which had been
sold as they were not planned to be used for racing. We put the car
into indoor storage, awaiting it's restoration.
Before selling our body shop 3 years ago, all of the body and body
panels were stripped to bare metal, both inside and out side, and
prepared for re-installation. They are now in epoxy primer.
The body panels, body, back panel, rear fenders, nose, and 4 hood
panels, except for the front fenders , have all been block sanded and
are 'ready ' for paint. I think after shipping, a touch-up etc will
be needed, and I would expect after transport, you will add a coat of
primer and block again, to eliminate any transport scratches. The
two front fenders were stripped and are in epoxy primer, but not
finished for paint as yet. ( see pictures of the body and panels in
gray primer)
Even tho' the original steel tub
was in very good condition, the previous owner wanted a light car
for racing, and bought a NEW Alloy unit from Morgan Spares for
$6500. (The original steel tub was in very good condition) It is
now in epoxy primer.
The wood was not primered, and of
course is all new.
More than half of the starting bid
is in the $6500 cost of the all new, aluminum body, with doors hung
and new alloy rear panel.
Serial number is 5940 The motor is
the 2.2L Triumph, and the transmission is the correct Moss unit.
Most all items are in excellent
condition, driver quality or better. The chassis has surface rust
and needs cleaning and repainting. The camera flash highlights rust,
and makes it appear worse than it is. The chassis shows no rust or
accident damage.
All the wood floor panels are in
such good condition, that a wiping with mineral spirits may be all
that is required.

. not a big deal, but an indication of the overall
condition of this car before he began working on it . The car has NO
rust... except light surface rust on chassis. Clean and paint the
chassis, paint the body,, and start assembling.
Original Wood Dash is excellent, as
are the gauges, etc ( see pictures)
He did acquire new stainless headers
and polished rocker cover (both pictured) which are included
The grill is in excellent condition,
(as pictured)
There is a copy of the 1970 Title
with the car. It is 50 years old and not executed as Alabama is
a non-Title State for cars of this age.
A Notarized Dealers Bill of Sale
and Alabama DMV VIN Certification form are the accepted papers for
export and registration.
If needed for transport, we can have
the body and panels “assembled” adequate for enclosed transport
for additional cost.
This Morgan comes with correct documents for transfer for Registration or Export . Also included is the old Title..
With a NEW Morgan body this isSOLID and pretty Complete, I think this will be a straight-forward restoration at an Intermediate level.
