Seller Description

Up for auction is a 100% original numbers matching Triumph Trophy 650 TR6C Street Scrambler! This bike is truly a time capsule andhas recently comeout of 25 years in dry storage. The bike has not been run in approximately10 years due to the owner being unable to kick it over because of his physical condition! This is an opportunity to own the bike Steve McQueen made famous in the early sixties! The Triumph factory produced these bikes at the request of the U.S. importers specifically for desert racing in Western U.S. states. They quickly earned the nick name "desert sled" and were very competitive both outWest and throughout the country in all types of racing. Thisis a rare example of an unmolested bike that can be enjoyed "as is"whichmost purists would recommend. They're onlyORIGINAL once! In fact the bike still has it's original title issued in 1967! It would also be an excellent candidate for a full restoration due to all the difficult to find, expensive, original parts being intact.According to an expert in the U.K. whom I contacted, there is a large amount of misinformation surrounding the actual production numbers of the U.S. only competition models on the internet and in published books on the subject. His research challenges thecommonly accepted 1967 TR6C number of 4000 units being sent to the U.S.. He has reviewed actual factoryrecords indicating the total number of 1967 TR6C's sold to the (2) U.S. importers to be 2815 units, making this particular bike evenmore desirable. Here's what I can add to the description of the bike in addition to what you see in the photos. There is oil in the oil tank and amazingly it doesn't appear to leak (as many British bikes do).

The inside of the fuel tank is extremely clean, no rust or crud visible. It kicks through with amazing compression (I understand why the gentleman I bought it from could no longer start it).Ithas a magneto ignition system and has spark to both plugs. I put afuel in the tank and immediately realized both fuel taps leaked badly! At this point, I don't want to do anything more to this piece of history, I'll leavemaking it roar to the new owner. There are afew dings and dents I'd like to point out. The frontfender has a couple of minor dents which will be able to be removed without too much effort. The headlight trim ring hasa dent andscratches on the right side. The seat has a small cut on the front left side. There is some paint missing on the left side of the fuel tank just above the rubber knee pad. Other than those minor imperfections this bike is truly a well preserved example ofa Triumph"U.S. Export only Competition" motorcycle. These bikes represent Triumph'sdominance of the U.S. racing scene in the 1960's. The bike is currently located in Florida and could be held for pickup during bike week if necessary. I am also listing the bike locallyso I reserve the right to endthis listing at any time if it sells. Please feel free to ask questions, I'm no British bike expert but will do my best to answer. I'mlisting the bike reasonably based on the N.A.D.A. top value of 13K for this model. It's truly a collectors dream.
