J Code, 302 V8, 4bbl, 4 Speed
Manual. Original numbers matching engine
and Carburetor with tag. Smog equipment still installed. Partial VIN matching
this car located on the engine rear deck in back of the intake manifold.
Nice car, owned it for a little under a year. Just don’t
have the time for this one. It needs a full restoration. Front frame rails need
to be replaced due to rust and possibly both rears. Torque boxes as well. Luckily all these
items are readily available and good quality for a reasonable price. I’m not a
dealer but a hobbyist that buys these cars, restores to some point and enjoys
them before selling them but I have a few too many projects waiting for me.
Car runs fine with no hint of oil burning. Car was running of some
sort when I purchased it but I replaced the gas tank and fuel sender to get it
running cleanly. It has a holley 600
4bbl on it now but the original Autolite 4300 is in the trunk. Brakes need to be redone and sadly at some
point in its life the front disc brakes which were standard on a GT were removed and replaced with drums.
Dual master cylinder and all the lines are still there. Brakes work if you pump
them but need to be gone through.
Interior is in good condition for its age. Fold down rear
seat, no speaker hole cutouts in the rear area. Instrument panel has the
tachometer and trip odometer options.
Body is in ok shape for 51 year old car but I don’t know
what lies underneath the blue paint. The hood was modified with an extra piece
of steel on the front to make it look longer. Shelby style scoops added to the
body as well as the Shelby style fiberglass trunk lid spoiler. A custom front metal spoiler was installed by
a previous owner also.
Car was painted Royal Maroon from the factory. Please see
the Marti Report in one of the pictures for the particular details on this car.
This is a great project car to customize into a Shelby or
Bullet clone. Or even better, restore it to the original GT 4spd Fastback that
it is. Unrestored GT Fastback Mustangs are becoming increasingly rare and with
a 4speed, even more.
Car comes with a clean Illinois title in hand with a bill of
sale from me as I never registered the car after I purchased it.
