1969 Boss 302
barn/garage find project car. This Boss sat for many years after the previous
owner suffered a serious injury that left him unable to drive a four speed. The
last time it was registered (until I recently bought the car) was 1995,
although I do not believe it was driven after 1989. It was stored at first in a
barn for some years and for the last many years, in the previous owner’s
garage. It was however, per the previous owner, started at least yearly except
for the last two years. When I purchased the car and before starting it, the
fuel tank and fuel system were flushed, the filter and engine oil changed with
Brad Penn, the oil system primed, and the transmission and the rear end had
the gear oil changed. The valves were adjusted, a new battery installed and the
car fired right up. The engine runs great. The motor is a NOM but is a genuine 1970 Boss 302 motor (casting number D0ZE -6015-B with a date
code of 9M3) that was rebuilt in 1983 and had about 16,000 miles put on it
though 1989 when it was no longer operated on the road by the previous owner
due to his injury. Car has a hipo dual point distributor and a Holley 750 dp. I
do not have the original distributor or carb. It does have the Boss exhaust
manifolds. The transmission has a ’70 Boss shifter, but is the original
transmission to the car. The rear gear is a 4.11 traction lok and has 28 spline
axles. The car was built with the optional traction lok 3.91 gear with 31
spline axles. Therefore at some point in the past, the center section, axles,
and gears were changed. The car has its buck tag.

The Marti Report
shows that the car, VIN  9F02G194XXX),was
originally built with bright yellow paint #3217-A,  and was well optioned with Black vinyl
standard bucket seats, 3.91 traction lok, 4 speed close ratio trans, rear deck
spoiler, sport slats, power front disc brakes, color keyed racing mirrors, and
a tachometer and trip odometer dash. The tach works as does the temperature
gauge. The fuel gauge doesn’t seem to even though I put a new sending unit when
I had the tank out to clean it.

This rare Boss needs
COMPLETE restoration. It has rust through on both the body
and the chassis. It will need at least floor pans, trunk work, frame rail work,
and body panel work. It has three small dents on either roof edge .  It had a freshening in 1983 by the previous
owner and was painted grabber blue at that time. It appears that some floor pan
work was done at that time. He installed deluxe door panels at that time. The
rest of Interior appears original and has wear. Dash pad has some cracks. Headliner
has two mouse holes near the sun visors so the car has had visitors while in storage. This is a project car. It is one of only
1,628 first year Boss’s made and
certainly is restorable but it is a job that is larger than my talent level and wallet can handle. The Boss runs, yard drives, and stops. However,
this is not a car that you can slap plates on and drive it. It will need to be
trailered home.

I have the receipts
of the engine rebuild in 1983. I also have the bill of sale when the previous
owner bought the 1970 Boss engine in 1982 (VIN 157XXX) which was then completely
rebuilt by a reputable engine shop. It was bored .030 over, had trw l2324f
pistons installed, heads rebuilt, timing set, original crank ground, etc.  I also have a good deal of other receipts
from the previous owner that will go with the car. When the valve covers were
removed to check valve lash and adjust them before
firing the engine up, the heads were found to be clean matching D0ZE609a  K14 dated heads. The complete engine VIN is available
to the buyer as is the transmission  numbers . The previous owner
told me that when he had the engine rebuilt in 1983 the car showed 38,000
miles. It now shows 54,651 which would indicate that the engine had about
16,000 miles put on the rebuild through 1989 when it essentially was not run on
the road any longer. It seems to be backed up by the fact that the wheels and
Goodyear eagles that were bought at about the same time as the rebuild (have
receipts) are still on the car holding air with tread that is dry-rotted. Car
is sold as is where is. The only history I have on the car is from the previous
owner with receipts dating back to 1982. All the receipts I have will go with
the car.

I will answer questions from serious bidders
to the best of my ability via this ad. I am not a Boss 302 expert but I do have
access to a Boss restorer who is well versed in Boss 302's  and can give me answers if I don't know them offhand.  I am a private individual not a dealer.

A $1,000 non-refundable
down payment is required to be sent via paypal by the winning bidder
immediately at the end of the auction. Complete payment is due via cash or bank
wire transfer within 7 days of the end of the auction.  I have a clean, current, transferable New York State
Registration in my name. New York State does not have titles for cars older
than 1973 – the transferable registration acts as the title. I can also furnish
a bill of sale. Car is sold as is where is with no guarantee. I can help with loading, but all shipping arrangements are the
responsibility of the winning bidder. Car will not move until paid for in full. I am located on a 4 lane state highway
about 20 miles east of Buffalo NY and I am close to interstate 90 (NYS Thruway).

is a NO RESERVE auction. The high bidder will own this rare iconic muscle car.
Bid to take it home, have the money to pay for it, and restore it to its original glory. Thanks
