For sale is a
1970 BMW Slash 5 with in it's original Polaris Silver ( Paint code" 057 )
shows 82174 miles on the clock. This BMW slash 5 started life as a 600cc
displacement engine as a R60/5 (VIN: [hidden information]). The original owner ( Previous
owner ) purchased this 1970 BMW R60/5 in 1971 as a discounted leftover example.
In the Winter of 1976, he upgraded it with a 750cc displacement engine (VIN:
[hidden information]) engine block and rebuilt the whole bike from the bottom up because he
often went into NYC to pick up his wife after work. The extra power on a 750cc
engine was very helpful fighting the NYC traffic is what I was told. It was a
very common upgrade back in 1970's. He not only upgraded from the engine case
up with bigger engine, but also dual plugged (added one more spark plugs onto
each engine) the engine heads which was also a very common upgrade. It not only
increases the efficiency of the engine but also can use lower grade and
unleaded gasoline. While he was there, he also replaced the lighted flywheel to
increase the engine response. Deep oil pan was added to carry more oil for
better lubrication and cooling effect. He maintained this machine himself since
day one as he didn't trust anybody else and it was their main means of
transportation for awhile so he had to make sure it ran on it's top shape all
the time.

That was his
very first BMW motorcycle and he has been keeping it until 2016. At that time,
he had 8 BMW motorcycles in the garage. This slash 5 was well kept, but became
rarely used.
This outlaw
BMW slash 5 has been in my collection since I took it over in 2016. It has been
upgraded, replaced, and restored during my ownership to meet my standard and
preference. New solo seat, New Cigar exhausts, New front and rear tires (less
than 30 miles, and installed in June/2020), user friendly Brown side stand,
Progressive rear shock, New fuel lines, Rebuilt carburetors, Maintenance free
AGM battery (one year old, and tested ), high visibility and highly adjustable
bar end Napoleon mirrors and many more were added. Compressions were tested
around 130 PSI ( normal: 123-145 PSI )
Engine,
transmission, drive shaft, and final drive oil were replaced during the Winter
of 2019. Front and rear brakes were inspected, cleaned, and adjusted while
tires were replaced in June/2020. All lights are working. There is no known
issue as far as I know for this BMW Slash-5 outlaw.
 
It runs as
good as a 50 year old motorcycle ever can. I try to preserve the 70's classic
motorcycle style with simple by choice in mind. It's a 100% functional vintage
motorcycle with some aging evidences and patina. There are some scratches on
the fuel tank. Inside of the Touring tank still has the factory red coating.
Broken fins on both side of the engine. It's symmetrical so I am not surprised
it had a fairing sometimes in it's life. 50 years of patina gives this
motorcycle more characteristics.

One original
BMW Kunststoffgriff ignition key will go with the bike, along with the original
R60/5 Engine case, and rear passenger foot rest. Clymer repair manual will be
included, overall, this bike is on the cover of the manual, as the famous
Clymer manual's BMW Polaris Silver slash 5.
 
This BMW
Slash-5 comes with the transferable NY state title, MV-639TR and signed NY
state Bill of sale, MV-912
