Seller Description

Original Survivor Street Machine in Full Day 2 Trim / 36,000 Miles / Original Sheet Metal / Original Paint / 3 OwnersHere it is folks! Not your everyday Nova,
this 70 SS car originated from Ed Stinn Chevrolet in Cleveland OH.The original
owner of 24 years(Gary Merriman)built the car into a wickedly fast Day 2 Cleveland street car
and took down many notablestreet cars of the day while cruising the streets of west
Cleveland in the 70's and 80's. Painted by Ron Badiu Sr back in the early 70's, it had a well built 327
four speed, tunnel ram and a Grump Lump scoop with 5:13 gears, slapper bars, frame connectors, 9.50 slicks and vintage Cragar's on it. I do have all ownership history, dealership documents and vintage pictures of the car being built in his back yard throughout the early 70's. It was lightened up for weekly street races and wrenched on throughout the week before they'd go out cruising (see last picture of how it looked back in 1973 and further picture links at bottom of page). The second owner (Gary Cunningham) de-tuned the car of
it's former street life to a limited degree, and became the next caretaker of the car for some 22 years until sold in 2016. I ended up with the car and have since restored it back to it's
original Day 2 street glory by restoring the bottom of the car, redoing the fuel system, all of
the hard lines, complete brake system, all of the suspension, and re-instituting all of the original Day II
peripherals needed to restore its original 70's street machine
provenance. These items include vintage and period correct specialty performance products from Lakewood, Hurst, Cragar, Firestone, MacLeod, Hayes, Callies, NMW and more.Once all the rare parts were acquired from other collectors and installed with all mechanical being addressed properly, I built a fresh new drive line for the car with a fully
Balanced and Blueprinted engine utilizing a Callie's prepped high performance short block with
nostalgia type aluminum heads, and vintage peripherals including a Tarantula Intake and Mickey Thompson ceramic coated long tube headers. The net result is
a hand built 500+ hp small block that truly screams to 7500 RPM while putting the driver in complete control of a really well engineered street machine.

The frame rails
are tied together nicely while a built 12 bolt with Liberty 4:56 gears and
axles handle the torque out back. It's planted to the pavement with restored original 1970's vintage Lakewood Traction Action long tail bars and period correct Cragar's while fit with a fresh set of pro Trac L60/15 bias ply street
tires. The front end includes a set of original 4" direct bolt Cragar front runners with vintage style Firestone 6.40 pie crust tires. The car hooks straight, launches properly and has
had all of it's suspension rebuilt front to back and is properly setup. The interior of the car includes
vintage 68 bucket seats recovered in black, a set of green line gauges w/ old school 9K Sun green line tach and a vintage original Lakewood roll bar to finish off that Day II vibe. The new drive line is now broken in with 200 miles of normal street use and makes linear torque in the 500/500 range It breaths through a set of vintage style Mickey Thompson scavenger headers hooked
to a competition exhaust system with vintage 2.50 Turbo Mufflers and factory style down pipes existing behind the tires.Front Tow tabs are installed with a new drive shaft and NMW safety loop. The car shifts with an original Hurst Pistol Grip handle mounted
to a brand new Hurst Comp Plus / Super Shifter body. It truly gives it such a cool feel from
the drivers seat that an ear to ear grin is unavoidable! The top cap of the pistol grip handle even rattles like it did in the Hemi cars of the day, until you grab the grip and plant your thumb on the cap. Finally, the car
retains all of it's original sheet metal and 95% original paint w/ vintage
billboards and ghosting painted over top the original code 17 lacquer paint back in the early 70's. Once the car was sanded and painted with black billboards and ghosting, it was then lacquer cleared to restore the metallic flake. Being that the paint is now nearing 50 years old, there is significant lacquer checking and crazing in the paint. Holding up well under the clear coat, this has produced a very cool original look (Patina) where you can see striations and checking in the paint but only at different angles as you walk around the car and under natural lighting. It's completely invisibleunder certain lighting and angles under the sun, but presents itself as you walk around with different angles of light bringing out the paints character. A very cool effect that cannot be duplicatedand only comes with age. The only spot of rust on the car is the start of a few blisters on the right rear fender lip and is minor at best. The trunk is all factory stock and still looks brand new
with clean original spatter paint and 100% rust free sheet metal. Likely one of the cleanest original trunks that I have ever witnessed. This was due to the car never seeing any
in-climate weather and being garage kept as a summer cruiser since new. Finally, owning and building a number of vintage muscle cars over the years, I can report with confidence that this is the best driving low mile car I have ever driven or been in. There are no squeaks, suspension dips, or noises of any kind. In fact, it drives like a brand new car with almost no miles on it and is completely smooth and quiet (with the exception of the solid lifter motor and the whine from the M22, but that is music to ones ears). Even with bias ply tires and front runners, it tracks very well, doesn't wander and is without any king of mechanical issue. It's as nice as a low mile car can be, but with a rich historic
performance edge and a ton of Ohio street racing history! Engine has now been broken in with a couple hundred shake
down miles. Everything is freshly built and well sorted on this one of a kind
original muscle car. I should note that due to this being a power brake car with a large mechanical cam, a CVR VP555 Vacuum Pump was installed to produce 12" vacuum for the power brakes.Video of the car can be seen by copying this link to my YouTube pagehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6KWPc7_JSQAdditional video including shift footage can be seen herehttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVddEGMIXTThfWp8Yta171g/videosOver 100 additional pictures can be viewed by copying pasting this link into your browserhttps://ibb.co/album/jjOstvThanks for looking and considering this listing. It's not your typical Nova or muscle car build that was banged together with poorly chosen parts or crate issued parts. It's a build that was painstakingly preserved to look as original as it did back in the 1970's and is done professionally. As presented, this particular car is an honest Day II car and has been one since the original owner built the car in Day 1. It retains all of it's original sheet metal, 95% original survivor paint, and a vintage inspired build with modern horsepower & Day II provenancethat cannot be duplicated.
