Seller Description

This Ford Maverick was originally owned by a man in North Carolina. He took great care of it and was driving it regularly until he sold it less than a decade ago. That’s when it came up to New York where I fell in love with it. My father helped me work on it at first, but life happens and now neither of us have time to work on cars. This one sat most of 2020 in my garage and that's usually a sign it's time to sell it. Instead of seeing it rust away here in NY I’d like to sell it to someone who will drive it and enjoy it.
The car has lots of the original everything. Any original parts that were replaced have been stored in the trunk should anyone want to restore it to a more original style. The motor is original and you can see that this is a true Maverick Grabber manufactured in Canada. Unlike most other Maverick’s this one has both the front emblem and the gas cap emblem. You’ll notice that the emblem for the gas tank is cracked, but just finding them can be stupid difficult so I never bothered to replace it.
The bumpers are in great condition, however you can see a few rust spots starting to come through on the back. Again, this is the problem with having the vehicle sit. The carpet was replaced when I got the vehicle and the car mats (while faded yellow) have done a good job of protecting it from dirt and dust. The radio was replaced with something a bit more modern (the original is in the trunk) so there is an aux in and usb adaptor that will allow you to listen to music from your phone. The speakers in the vehicle aren’t original and could easily be replaced with better quality ones though I never did.
The windshield and rear window were replaced in the time I’ve owned them. The original seals were cracked and rotted and the glass had fogged up making the upgrade to safety glass an easy choice. The seat belts in the car now are the original lap belts. Each still has the original emblem on the release button. I also have a set of new door seals in the trunk that I never had a chance to put on. The existing seals still function well, but they’ve shrunk and hardened a bit over time. You can see this in the upper right of the doors where the seal no longer stretches to meet the frame.
The back seats are the original seats however there was some patching done on them. It's not particularly noticeable, but it is there. The front bench seat has been replaced with two bucket seats and the steering wheel is not the original. There are a few other flawed interior details. The headlining has also been repaired in a few spots where it appears the stitching rotted away. There are no visible holes that were repaired though. The small ceiling light also appears to have melted some of the plastic housing. I've never driven the car at night so I never replaced the bulb, but I suspect an led would be an easy solution to prevent future damage.
The keys for the car appear to be the originals. There is one for the ignition and one for the trunk. Making duplicates would be an easy task if you wanted to keep the originals safe. The wheels still have a good amount of tread on them, but you may choose to replace them as they were bought about 4 years back. The only thing missing or broken is the vehicle’s air conditioning. Yes, the original 1970 Grabber model did come with air conditioning, but by the time I bought this car it was long gone.
The car runs and drives well. (See video below) Oil was changed, spark plugs replaced, carb cleaned, etc. When I first got this car I drove it for hours without a problem and enjoyed every mile. It's never caused me trouble unlike some of the other classic cars I've had. This is likely in part because of the exceptional care that was taken with the original owner.
It has a 120 hp straight-six engine. The transmission was professionally rebuilt in the last year so there shouldn’t be any bad surprises there. The gas tank, fuel lines, and fuel pump were all replaced as well so there shouldn't be any drips in your driveway or garage. In the photos, you’ll see that this is in fact the original motor with the Maverick label still on it. This is not a frankenstein project!
Since the Ford Maverick Grabber was a fairly low-end car they tended to be a “first car” for new drivers. (Which means they got crunched up in accidents and they can be a bit difficult to come by.) Many of the body parts actually match mustangs so it’s common to see people fix up other cars (or non-Grabber Mavericks) to look like the Maverick Grabber. This one is 100% original though and I'll even send along the original bill of sale from North Carolina to prove it!
The color is called Grabber Orange (as seen on the tags and paperwork) and though it looks a bit yellow, a google search of Maverick Grabber Yellow will show you that a yellow Maverick Grabber is very bright yellow. The orange Maverick Grabber is a bit more like a school bus yellow. Again, this car has paperwork showing that it is a factory upgraded Maverick Grabber. Please review the wikipedia article linked below if you doubt the options available for the 1970 Ford Maverick Grabber. They were different in 1970 than in other years.

This listing doesn't include the millage on the vehicle as the odometer is unlikely to be accurate anyway. The car is over 50 years old and so please consider this before asking about a warranty or returns. I'm not a dealership this is a personal vehicle that I am selling as is.
I’ve taken a lot of photos here and written a lengthy, honest description of the car. If you have other questions, or would like additional photos please let me know.
If you would like to arrange for a transportation company to pick up the car that's fine, but please keep in mind that is not factored into the price of the vehicle. I have personally used Easy Auto Ship with good results if you're looking for a recommendation.
