Description
I recently purchased this 1970 GTO Judge from the estate of the man who owned it for nearly 40 years. From what his son explained to me, he did a body on restoration back in the 1980's changing the color from Orbit Orange to White. He proudly drove and street raced this GTO until he wrecked the drivers rear 1/4 panel back in 1995. As you can see by the license plates and the last Virginia inspection sticker on the windshield, this car has been off of the road and stored under his carport for the past 23 years. The mileage on the speedometer now reads 57,554.
We pulled it out of hiding, cleaned it up a bit and got it running. The seats, door panels & carpeting were removed for you to see the exact condition of the floor pans and the inner structure. Please note the original factory Orange over spray on the inner doors and rear seat side panels.
I received and have shown a photo of the Pontiac PHS Documentation from when this car was sold new. This 70 GTO Judge came from the factory finished in the "Rare and Desirable" color combination of Orbit Orange with a Black Bucket Seat Interior. The driveline was a Ram Air III, Turbo Hydromatic with a Posi Traction Rear End and Power Front Disc Brakes.
Under the hood now rests a non-original 1971 455 Engine with a matching pair of Rare (#64) 455 HO Cylinder Heads, Edlebrock Aluminum Intake, Holly Carb and a Mallory Dual Point Distributor. Attached to the motor is a blow proof Bell Housing and a 1967 dated Muncie 4-speed Transmission with a Hurst Shifter. It also has a 12 bolt 355 Posi Traction Rear End with heavy duty Sway Bars, front & rear. The Ram Air Hood Pan and matching Air Cleaner are long gone.
I changed all of the fluids, flushed out the radiator and did an electrical tune-up including a new battery. I disconnected the gas tank at the end of the fuel pump and attached an auxiliary tank. The 455 starts instantly, runs and sounds good and does not smoke, tick, knock or leak any fluids or overheat. The clutch engages nicely and the 4-speed transmission shifts smoothly. The car rolls & steers easily but has no brakes.
The cars body is complete with all of it's sheet metal, trim & glass. The hood, trunk & doors open, close, latch & lock. All of the clear window glass is uncracked and the side windows roll up & down easily. For reasons unknown to me, the trim tag located under the hood and on top of the cowl was removed a long time ago and I did not receive it with the car.
As my photos clearly show most of the body sheet metal has some type of issue with some being repairable and the rest needing replacement. The floor pans are original and do have several areas of rust through. The frame is clean and straight having no rust thru or heavy scale and appears to have never been wrecked, repaired or welded.
The black vinyl interior is all original and still presentable, having no rodent infestation or moldy smell. The bucket seats and rear seat springs are clean & solid. The dash board and steering wheel are complete and original with the exception of the radio which I did not receive. The Judge Glove Box Emblem is in very nice original survivor condition but the dash pad is cracked.
This "Real Deal" 1970 GTO Judge with it's desirable color combination will make a wonderful restoration project or a great start to a unique Resto-Mod Car.
Please understand that you are bidding to buy not to be the first one to look. If you need to examine this automobile before you bid you are more than welcome and I recommend that you do so. I do not have a buy it now price but do have a reasonable & realistic reserve.
This GTO Judge comes with a clean, clear West Virginia Title.
