Seller Description
1971 OIF Triumph Trophy 650 TR6C
Here we have an uncommon opportunity to own a nice example of a rare bike that was designed to be abused, that were too often ridden hard and put away wet. This bike stands as an exception to that normal, with low miles* and a bike that was not trashed! An excellent candidate for restoration, or just enjoy as it is.
My intention is to describe this bike to the best of my ability, as forthcoming as possible for your total satisfaction in good/fair business. It is a collection of good points and some that need attention.
Matching numbers motor and frame with clean title.
Motor - 650CC - Correct/original (R 930/60) Single Amal Carburetor. Kick start only, Bike was ridden this spring, and then ridden about 20 miles last week. However it is not running well, Carb and ignition timing need attention at least. bike leaks oil and should have gaskets replaced.
Transmission - Right foot shift, shifts and operates normally.
Brakes/wheels/Forks - Original conical hubs with air scoop front drum. brakes operate normally. possible leaking fork seal. New Shinko tires.
Electrical - (+) Positive ground, as original design. There have been repairs to the electrical harness, it appears to be complete but many connections (mostly of hand controls, lights and bulbs related) are disconnected in the headlight bucket that need to be sorted out.
Body/Paint/Frame - The bike has been repainted in its original color, The original paint is still present under the repaint but condition of original paint is unkown. The bike wears a good looking paint patina from age if " a little sweaty" is your appeal. there are methods to go about revealing the original paint underneath, or start over. The air boxes have been cut inside to accommodate a pancake style air cleaner. Bike is missing its front fender. gas tank top seem trim present from front to bolt, but missing from the bolt to the seat. (as pictured) Kickstand is missing its return spring, and the kickstand mount was re-atached to the frame poorly causing the bike to lean heavy on the side stand. There is no center stand present, although I would recommend one.
The speedomoter and turn signals were removed at some point and are included with sale (one pair of Lucas indicators as pictured) ((*actual mileage unknown as speedo was removed before my ownership)) driver and passenger footpegs may or may not be the originals as they do not accommodate the included rubbers. Hand controls look good and complete. Seat is in good condition.
I am happy to answer questions and provide additional pictures or details on request.
