Seller Description

Red-White-Black and Blue 72 XLCH. A real 72, not thecheesy blockhead type the factory put out a few years ago. Ok,I bought this bike about 4 years ago from someone that owned it for 33 years, so it has not been through the hands of 15 abusive kids in it's lifetime. He was the second owner, making me the third. It has matching engine and frame numbers and the engine case half numbers match. A clear Georgia title in my name. I would like to point out right away that the blued original exhaust are from another "72" I had years ago, this bike did not run hot causing the blue. It had a nice set of aftermarket exhaust when I bought it. In fact the bike had recently had a fresh top end job done about a year before. It has great compression and doesn't smoke at all. Please click on photos to enlarge. The things I have done to improve the bike are: Installed the finest condition 71-72 front end I've been saving for years for the right bike. The bushings have zero play in them and I put NOS seals and dust covers in, that's theoriginal decal on the fork tree cover. Thehigh shoulder front rim is new aftermarket laced and trued with Buchannons stainless spokes. The rear wheel is factory highshoulder aluminum laced from the factory with cad plated steel spokes. It had chrome rims originally. The rear sprocket has very few miles on it, so it got a new 22 tooth front sprocket (for highway cruising) and a new solid roller chain. New sprocket shaft seal, housing and gasket. New fiber and steel clutch plates. Rebuilt -71Abendixcarb. with snapback throttle. New factory air filter. All pushrod corks replaced and rods adjusted to perfection.Replaced rocker shaft o-rings. New startersolenoid, relay, starter andsolenoid gaskets, thrust washer and battery. Replaced the horn and mounting bracket. New coil and wires. Put a factory petcock and the touring tank with original graphics on it. Factory highway pegs I've been saving for the right bike. A nice set of buckhorn bars with internal wiring, new grips and end caps. Replaced headlight bracket and indicator lights. Replaced rear shocks with a nice black spring set.Replaced points, condenser, renewed the advance unit and set the timing dead on. I'm sure there's more if I sit and think long enough. Oh, thechain guard is from a 71 boat tail sporty, a fairly scarce item. New oil and trans fluid. This isn't a perfect bike, it has some paint chips and a small ding in the tank, but I just wanted it to be a real nice rider. The bike has an original period correct Goodyear all traction tire that could use replacing. The front tire is an Avon Speedmaster that's still ok. It is sold "as is" and there is a $250non-refundable deposit required throughPayPal at the end of auction. The remainder of the payment would be in the form of bank or cashiers check or personal check. The bike or title will not be released for pick up or delivery until all funds have cleared. Shipping arrangements are the buyersresponsibility. I'm happy to help with those arrangements if possible. (and please do not bid if you have no intentions of buying).(I have been battling cancer for about a year now, but symptoms returned a few weeks after I finished this bike. So, I have 16 bikes and lots parts I'll be going through and putting up for sale over the summer. Most are four cam Harleys and Triumph Bonnevilles. No bikes older than 1955. I don't know if I'll beat this dreaded thing or not, so that is the reason for starting to unload some of my collection. That being said you might want to mark me as a favorite seller and check back from time to time. I've been factory certified since 1980 and have mostly factory original items to sell in case that's whatyou're into.
