Seller Description

CLEAN TITLE - PLEASE READ TILL THE END!!!
The bike has been verified to have
the below original parts:
В· Matching VIN, Frame & Engine Number as shown
on pictures
В·
This is a 1972 bike registered in 1973 as you
can see on the fancy license plate.
В·
Carburetor, Air Filter Housing, Electricals
& Wiring, Levers, Lights, Side Cover emblem, koni 76f-1296 shocks (Note the
side covers are not perfectly matching color as the tank) etc
В·
Doesn’t have the original 4into4 exhaust but
seems to have a period correct exhaust. I’m believing it’s an RC engineering
due to the unusual pattern of header (from Google) but it could also turn out
to be MAC since they made too many variations.
I don’t have a lot of history on
the bike but after making several attempts I’ve found that the bike has lived
all its life in California (Current duplicate key was made by a San Francisco
shop that closed in 2007). The bike comes with one main key and one seat key (I
have one smaller key that I couldn’t find the use for, doesn’t work on the
steering lock). The PO owner had 2 bikes to café and didn’t want to break this
apart since this one had a lot of original parts to retain.
The bike has a few flaws/issues as
listed below:
В·
Speedo shows 30,880 miles and will go up since I
ride it often to show off but I wouldn’t swear my life on the miles since it’s
so easy to tamper (disconnect speedo cable) on these bikes.
В·
The gas tank seems to have been original candy
orange that was painted at some point of its life to Braer brown (see pictures,
looks professionally done though).

In addition, it’s got chromed valve &
stator cover, which I’m assuming was done in the early 90s when it was still a
bling thing.
В·
The gas tank has 2 dents (or character) as shown
in the pictures
В·
Second gear occasionally slips, could’ve been a
drop or racing in the past which I’m not sure at this point.
The bike was recently serviced at MotorFast,
San Mateo where the new tires, battery, front fork tubes, fork seal, carb
cleaned & serviced, oil & filter, all electrical connected.
Since you’re reading this anyway,
I’m going to make this easy for you to make the decision if you want this bike
or no.
Why you should buy this bike?
В·
All original and a good candidate for restoration.
72 & 73 is the time Honda made the most number of CB750s and they also started
getting more mellow in the later years.
В·
If you’re 5’11 with 36 inch waist like me, this
is ergonomically the best motorcycle you could ever get. If you don’t believe
me try cycle-ergo.com to test what is best for you. Honda’s main goal was to
make a cruiser that was best for long trips and I can vouch for it.
В·
If you’re a mechanically sound person with a
garage space enough to work on it patiently this is an awesome bike to work on
since all the parts are already there.
В·
Already has dual disc conversion done, oil
cooler (meh but works), koni aluminium shocks, working dials and gauges.
В·
Comes with an extra average condition seat,
k&n drop in filter.
Why you should not buy this bike?
В·
Not a good candidate for cafГ© racer (I started
loving this bike after watching jay leno’s show on a cr750 replica) since this
bike is all original and you’re going to spend a lots of money on modernizing
it like adding gsxr front end, rear disc brakes, electronic ignition etc.
В·
If you’re not a DIY guy or don’t have a garage
with beer and tools, run away. Parts for this bike is like $300 and labor is like
$1200 especially in California.
All the above said, I’m also
adding few YouTube links of the bike running and cold start.
COLD START: https://youtu.be/MkiTct0E0Wo
FASTER FREEWAY RUN: https://youtu.be/5WyrYw5bxUs
SECOND GEAR SLIP: https://youtu.be/JaPrJkokHlM (very
subtle at 1:56 or so, I just upshift to 3)
Now to answer the question on why I’m
selling it:
В·
I don’t have the knowledge/expertise or my own
garage (I’m renting) to work on it myself to bring it up to spec. If you don’t either
(DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE), you’re going to be spending like $1000 for
transmission, $1500 for modernizing electrical stuff to electronics and another
$1000 for the mechanic to rebuild or upgrade to 836cc kit while he’s working on
the transmission.
В·
I’ve been dreaming to own a BMW R Nine T since
2014 when it was launched, this will be the down payment.
I will help you with getting the
motorcycle to a shipper or giving suggestions on the people I have used. I will
not ship the motorcycle for you and as they always say SOLD AS IS.
