The bike is a 1972 Mk4 750 machine (would have originally had a post Combat detuned engine).The original 750 engine to this bike has been replaced with a 1st year 850cc engine that is an Early Engine Stamping.Commandos ALWAYS left the factory with matching engine, gearbox & frame numbers.Titled as a 1973 which is typical of most states that titled new vehicles the year the vehicle was purchased.

NOTE FROM OWNER:
Just sold 50 year collection of English parts andmotorcycles this summer that was my retirement fund. Filled a 52 foot trailer that went to the East Coast and now I am going to sell my motorcycles I have left. I do not want to use my new knees on starting my kick start vintage bikes. I am selling my motorcycles "AS-IS" because I want to go have fun and I have had a good run with screwing with my old bikes. Bought a new Morgan three-wheeler and that is the next stage in my life. Bought the Commando in 1993 in Colorado where I used to live. I kept the 850 because it is all original and has enough patina that I am not scared of screwing it up cosmetically and I like the road rash on the tachometer. It has not been ran in over 10 years. Always thought it was a 1973 but checked the engine number and the engine is a early 850. I figure original owner blew up the 750 and the dealer replaced with a 850. We never used to care about "numbers matching" back in the day - We just rode the things.

Selling for the owner. When I met Greghe had over 100 motorcycles and a warehouse full of parts. He has whittled his collection down to about 20 motos. All his stuff is quality and he is a very active member ofthe Antique MotorcycleClub of America. Free Membership to AMCA is included in the purchase of his BSA.
The Commando needs to be re-commisioned. Greg says it's a runner and would need the usual work to get it going. He does not want to turn wrenches and he figures the new owner will want to gothrough the Norton. He is including a big box of extra parts which can be seen in the listing photos and also in the first video where I took off the bodywork.
I shot lots of photos and took FIVE videos of the Norton. I try to put as much information in my listings so that there are no suprises. All the information typed in this listing is the most up-to-date information. The information in the videos is subject to finding out what actually is correct so please be kind to some of my inaccurate statements and comments in the videos. Thanks!
