Used 1972 Suzuki GT550 INDY Used 550L

This bike is in nice condition but is non-running. The engine needs repair. I put new fork gaiters, seals, petcock gasket, air filter, front sprocket, chain, and battery on this motorcycle. I cleaned the carbs and I started it up, it had been sitting an unknown number of years. I ran the bike for a short time and it made a bad noise and now the motor is stuck. So I decided to list it for sale as is. I put a lot of work into this bike and it just made me ill when this happened. I figured its a good candidate for a motor swap or someone to rebuild. You have a good start to a first year original GT550 triple 2 stroke. The exhaust is solid and in good shape. The original paint is in good shape with some patina. The right side cover was missing so that is not original. Its painted yellow. I was going to try to get it painted to match but at this point I'm throwing in the towel. I even went through the process of obtaining a title for it. It did not have a title when I got it but it does now. Please look over the pictures. I didn't spend much time cleaning it up and it could look a lot better. All the lights work including blinkers, the horn does not work and the front brake switch is needing repair. Electric start seems to work but the starter clutch needs work. Seat is in good shape but has one small spot on the bottom left edge. Chrome is in pretty good shape for a bike of this age. The transmission shifts through all the gears. The compression felt real good before it locked up. I'm guessing the crank bearings are bad. You can see I cleaned up the front wheel some when I replaced the fork seals, I did not clean the back wheel at all.

Also the inside of the tank has been treated with what I believe to be Kreem or something similar. Good luck to the new owner. If it doesn't sell I guess it will get parted out. It would be a shame for this one but I need to recoup some money on it. Feel free to ask questions I will try to answer them promptly. I think I covered the details on this bike pretty well.
