Seller Description

For sale is a 1972 (built 7/71) Yamaha DS7. This was the only year the DS7 250cc two-stroke street bike was made, which they later called the RD 250 and then the RD 350 etc...This one kicks over and fires up, runs and rides. Gotta love that two stroke sound! The orig seat was totally shot (pan is rusted and foam is half gone and the cover is all ripped up), so bike comes with a replacement seat from RD350 that is on the bike in pics and you will get this nicer seat (still some rips but much better than other seat). The mufflers are solid, tank is good but does have some minor nicks, side covers are good, rear fender and lights are good, front fender has few creases right at the front edge. This is an older bike and does have some imperfections due to normal wear and storage over the years.
-Has key + CLEAR TITLE.
-Brand new battery.
-Freshly cleaned carbs.
-New fuel lines/filters.
-Lights all work.
-Fresh transmission oil change
-New spark plugs.
-Has slow leak in rear tire tube easy fix with new tube.
-Oil injection still works.
I believe that the stock color of the DS7 was orange/gold. This one appears to have been repainted in the 70's to a real nice darker blue color. I think the blue looks much nicer, and compliments the chrome and black on the bike. The paint is in decent shape, but you can see that the pinstriping on the tank was not perfect, and the tank does have a few minor blemishes.Again, bike is not perfect, but is a decent survivor that you can ride ride away.
NOTE: Deposit of $250 is required within 24 hours. Remaining balance due in CASH within 7 days. Once paid, I can hold bike for several weeks if you need to arrange transport.Pick up bike in Gurnee, IL (about 40 miles North of Chicago). No warranty or guarantee - this is an older bike and is being sold as is.
Good luck bidding, and ask any questions at all. Thanks for looking !!!
Below is some info about the DS7 model.-------------------------------------TheYamahaDS7 motorcyclewas made in 1972 for one year. It was a 250cc twintwo-strokethat made 30hp @ 7,500 rpm. Top speed was 93mph. 12v battery ignition. five-speed gearbox. 1/4 mile in 14.8 seconds. The DS7 was the initial forerunner of the Yamaha RD series of motorcycles started in 1973. The major difference between the 250 cc DS7 and 350 cc R5 of 1972 and the 1973 RD250 and RD350 was that the DS7 and R5 utilized piston-port induction, whereas the RDs were introduced withreed valveinduction. The engine is a square bore and stroke at 84Г—84 with the normal for the era chrome cylinders. Pistons used two rings as is normal for 2 cycle engines. A 5 speed, transmission with a left foot gear change without the need for linkage from the right as was usual in the early 70's. The 250 was "oil injected" meaning that although the 250 was a 2 stroke or (2 cycle engine) there was no need to premix the gas and oil. The gas tank only contained gas but the oil was injected from an oil tank beneath the seat. The ds7 had a tls (twin leading shoe) front brake that worked exceptionally well and an sls (single leading shoe) brake on the rear. This motorcycle was based on the racing Yamaha with an excellent frame and the suspension was good too. It handled better than most riders could ride it even though the suspension was comfortable, almost cushy but far from mushy. The Yamaha YDS7is a great bike that hits well above its weight class.
