1974 BMW R60/6 mild Cafe/CustomThis is a bike I have enjoyed over the past year and over 1000 miles, but Age (70+) and Health issues force sale. After 55+ years of riding I am just getting too old to enjoy this and I do not want to just park it in the corner of my garage & let it deteriorate. Someone can ride this bike for years and years and years.(Note: I have also listed my stash of BMW Parts here on eBay and will be listing my 81 BMW R65 soon.) With the 40HP Motor and 5 Speed Transmission it capably runs 65 MPH all day long. I’m 5’8” and I find it a very comfortable bike to ride. And at about 450 pounds it is easy to move around the garage and is a blast riding the twisty back roads.Photo #2 shows the bike as delivered to me - cafe fairing, bullet rear turn signals, boat-tail seat.I wanted a bit more of a stock appearance so I added full fenders. Added lockable saddlebags with integrated lights which I wired as Brake Lights for safety. (Brake lights work off the pedal only, not the hand lever.) If you want to make it even more stock appearing, remove the fairing and replace the boat-tail rear piece with a full seat or a shorty seat. Seats like that can be found for an R60/6 here on eBay in the $200 range.

Put in new plug wires and spark plug caps. I had a great local shop (Sidecar Dan Browning) install new points & condenser and adjust valves (6mm Intake/8mm Exhaust). Replaced both spark plug thread inserts in the heads as one was worn and might as well do both while it was on the lift.Tank was painted, but not striped when I bought it. (see photo #2) Paint on top of tank is a bit faded by the filler -possibly from using the tank bag. May buff out - however, not in my skill set.I replaced the stubby front fender and installed a rear fender after painting them black. And I had a local artist pinstripe all components: Tank, both Fenders and Saddlebags.Not a show bike or trailer queen, but a rider you will be really proud of. Couple of rock chips as you would expect on any bike that is ridden.
