Seller Description

This has to be one of the nicest 1974 Honda MT250 Enduro survivors in existence.
I purchased this MT250 seven years ago this month from a collector in Virginia. As he said, it was "the pride and joy of his collection." I purchased it for two reasons: First and foremost it is the exact same year, make and model bike that I purchased brand new for $950.00 in East Lansing, Michigan as a teenager. I have many fond memories of that bike having ridden it to high school and everywhere else with my buddies. Second, it was the nicest example I could find anywhere after looking for years. I scoured the country via ebay, cycle trader, VJMC, etc. I attend Mid-Ohio most years and many other shows including Barber. Never could find a really nice one or at least one that was for sale. This one was the one and I purchased it in April 2012. It has been in a temperature and humidity controlled display area ever since.
All the bikes in my collection are bikes I purchased with the intention of fully restoring with the exception of this bike and another survivor bike, a 1975 Kawasaki F9 that I just sold this week. I'm selling some of my enduros as it is very difficult for me to kick start a bike these days due to a back injury. I had always started each of my bikes once a year to ensure everything still worked as it should and then drained the fuel and injector oil, removed the battery and fogged the top end before putting them back on display. That was last done on this bike during the summer of 2016.
As you will note in the pictures the chrome, spokes, seat, pipe, frame, gauges, etc. are all in very nice condition. The paint on the tank, fenders, side cover, frame, pipe and engine is all factory. Regrettably, someone decided they wanted two fender flaps on the front fender; the one on top and and additional one on the bottom. Of course, it didn't come from the factory with one on the bottom and because the individual drilled two holes to mount it there was no fixing it without paint work. (Ironically, a previous owner of my F9 did the same, adding a flap to the front of that fender!) I spent nearly six years looking for a NOS front fender. I found one in January 2018 and paid the "arm and leg" price of $319.

15 including shipping. (I kept that receipt!) It is mounted and looks great. When I bought the bike, one of the fork seals was leaking and I removed the front forks and disassembled them for cleaning and to install new seals and fork oil. While talking to the greatest vintage Honda parts guy I every met, Terry, at Western Hills Honda about the bike, I learned they had NOS fork lowers. I purchased them and installed them. They are perfect and beautiful. I can't find my receipt for them but know they weren't cheap. I also installed NOS front and rear sprockets and a chain.
Of course the bike is 44 years old and as nice as it is it isn't perfect. There is a small dent on the left side of the tank and other imperfections here and there. And, while not a flaw per se, it has its original Bridgestone Trail Wing Tires still intact. While they are in decent condition and great for museum viewing, they obviously are not safe to ride on. Last time I started this bike (summer 2016) everything worked as it should. The battery has long since gone flat and won't take a charge. You will need to purchase a new one. That said, I strongly encourage anyone interested to come see the bike in person or have an expert inspect the bike for you. I am sharing everything I can think of that I would want to know but surely have missed something that might be important to you. In addition to inspecting the bike please ask ANY questions you may have. I will answer them to the best of my ability and in a timely fashion but please don't wait until the last day just in case I can't get to them before the auction ends. I take my feedback score, whether selling or buying, very serious and I want the next owner of the bike to be as happy as I have been. Once the auction ends, that's it. I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time. However, that does not mean I will circumvent ebay to make a sale.
I do have a clear title in MY NAME. It will not be transferred and the bike will not leave my possession until I have full payment via a wire transfer and my credit union says it is safe to do so. Of course, cash always works. A deposit via Paypal for $250 is due within 48 hours of the auction end. The bike is sold "as is- where is" and does NOT include any written or implied warranty or guarantee of any kind whatsoever. Shipping is your responsibility to arrange and pay for. I will certainly work with your shipper on timing and will hang on to the bike for a reasonable period until the shipper arrives but in any event the bike must be picked up within 30 days at the latest. If you have a feedback score of less than 10 and/or any negative feedback I will cancel your bid. Please treat this seriously if your interested. I don't want to have to deal with buyer's remorse or financial problems. This bike won't be cheap. NADA values this bike in Excellent condition at $3,885.00 It is museum worthy. Thanks for looking and good luck!
