Seller Description
Classic Italian sporting motorcycle from the early 1970’s.Very limited production run of 948 units (compare to 7036 for Series 1 Le Mans).I believe that this bike was one of a handful that were Oz delivered - as far as I can ascertain it was owned and cosmetically restored by a gentleman by the name of G. Cameron of Adelaide and later owned by D. Bayliss of Geraldton, W.A. before passing into my hands.Has now had full mechanical restoration (motor, clutch, gearbox, final drive and brakes) by world renowned Moto Guzzi aficionado Peter Roper of Bungendore N.S.W. under my ownership of the past 3 years.Very original in appearance (compare to 1974 brochure attached) and retains quaint and often missing original features such as electric fuel tap, under seat lamp, fuse box, air filter (more utilitarian units are include in sale for serious outings), Koni shocks and Silentium shark gill mufflers but unfortunately not the tool kit, owner’s manual or under bike gearbox oil breather. Cosmetically I would rate it 90% with a few minor scuffs and blemishes mainly to the tank. The bike has a conventional pattern gearshift. What’s it like to ride? I can only echo the sentiments of Cycle magazine from June 1974 - “Ducatis are motorcycles which immediately possess the sporting motorcyclist. The Guzzi drug is slower acting: it comes in time release form.” 1970’s Guzzis. Totally a drug… I would also add that the Guzzis from the era have an enviable reputation for reliability and simple maintenance which are not attributes shared by their contemporary Ducatis.I foolishly purchased the bike as part of my SMSF and have had no end of trouble from the auditor ever since, hence the regretful sale. Non transferable club rego. Call me on 0425 282 711 A.H. to ask any questions or come and inspect in the A.C.T. Realistic reserve but Italian classics in this condition do not come cheap. Happy to assist with freight at buyer's expense.
