Seller Description
Time to sell my 1974 Norton Commando 850 Mk II Roadster. I’m the third owner of this bike, selling it for the same reason the guy I bought it from did – My knee no longer cooperates with the kick start. This is an original stock (not a parted-together restoration) well-maintained rider’s bike that needs someone with a fresh knee to keep it going. The parallel twin OHV 828 cc engine accelerates quickly and this bike can fly. It’s a solid, strong runner sporting the hard-to-find 1974 Pacific Blue metal flake paint and stainless-steel fenders. Had a spring tune-up done end of April (2020) with a complete checkup of all systems. It’s good to go. Here’s the complete package for anyone looking for a totally “Boss” vintage 70’s British Superbike!Frame and engine numbers match and original steel gas tank is clean. Fork, steering, controls, speedo and tac, wheels, and inner workings are all original.
On my watch parts that have been replaced due to wear and maintenance have been new/old stock original OEM number spares sourced through Old Britts and other Lucas vendors in the US and UK.No reproduction pieces on this bike to the best of my knowledge. Electrical has been gone through including replacement of the wiring harness. All connections are sound, and everything works.1974 was the last production year for Norton with a right foot shift on the 4-speed gearbox, so the unfamiliar rider might need a few turns to get used to it.Those who know these machines understand the setup and how it works. This bike has a manualkick start– no electric assist. The engine has its original twin Amal carbs with ticklers, so starting the bike is a ritual. Maintenance records for the bike can be made available upon request from the classic bike works I’ve had care for it over the past 16 years. This is a 46-year-old bike in very good condition that has been ridden most of that time, not a show piece. There are signs of use and wear as should be expected, but no chips, dents or scratches that would detract from its otherwise pleasing appearance. The bike has a clear Wisconsin Title in my name and will be transferred upon completion of sale. There’s nothing like riding a classic naked British superbike over the open road - The thrill and sheer terror of taking it over 80 knowing all that’s keeping you on the bike is gravity and your hold on the hand grips. Life is short, enjoy the ride!
Terms and ConditionsThe bike is sold as is. No warranty for equipment or operation is expressed or implied.Buyer is responsible for packing and shipping the bike from the seller’s address to its delivery destination. I will make every reasonable effort to meet and cooperate with the shipper of your choice to assist with the pickup for shipment.
