This is a highly customized 1978 Yamaha RD400. It has about 14,750 original miles on her.
I have had her for about 12 years.
There is so much I have done to her that I probably cannot remember it all.
I done a frame-off restoration. I had the frame and many of the small pieces powder-coated a dark gray. The wheels are powder-coated black. The handlebars, calipers, battery box, and seat pan are some of the things powder-coated.At that time I replaced about all I could replace as far as bearings and bushings and such. They really did not need it, but I done it anyway. The wheel bearings, steering head bearings, went to a bronze swing-arm bushing, etc. etc. I will include with the bike many of these original parts with her if you wish.
I recently done a top-end on her. I went with Banshee high-tech coated pistons.......20 over if I recall. She has maybe a thousand miles on her since the top-end........at the most.
I have highly modified some other things on the engine. I removed the original air-box and went to a Y-boot foam air filter. I have really worked the carbs over. All re-jetted and done the 'Dave F' carb modification to her.
I have Banshee intakes with carbon fiber reeds. I made a crossover pipe out of copper myself. I have intake spacers on her. She had DG expansion chambers on her.
She runs out very very well as you can imagine. Great mid-range power and high-end power out the wahzoo. She starts easily, hot or cold.
I removed the oil injection system and run pre-mix. I have the original oil pump to go with her if ya wish to re-install oil injection. You would need the cables though.
I have chopped the front and rear fenders. I have a LED headlight. It is a great daytime running light, but is only so-so at night. It has a pencil beam effect to it. I have hooked up a crotch rocket LED taillight that has biuilt in signals.

I have hooked up LED signals on the front. For the life of me I cannot get them to blink on their own. They will come on, and you can make them blink manually by cycling the switch. Perhaps someone that knows 12v electrics can sort it out.
She has an aftermarket front brake master cylinder, and a Suzuki GSXR rear brake master cylinder. They are cheaply rebuilt come time, unlike the original Yamaha ones. I have stainless steel brake lines.
As you can see, the seat is cafe racer style, but a passenger can still easily sit on it. The seat has a couple small issues, not obvious at all. I will get a couple close up pictures posted.
I just replaced the fork seals, with the gracious help of a friend of mine, but the left fork still leaks a tiny bit. Perhaps it just needs broke in? In any case, the leakage is very minimal.
As you can see, I done a simple rattle-can paint job on her. If you do not like it, it can be repainted fairly easily. I used the 'Stone' finish paint, which gives it a rough texture. I went over it with a satin clear coat.
The tires are in good shape. The chain and sprockets are in good shape.

I easily have at least $5500 in her and countless hours of labor. I would not even think about selling her, but I am in the process of selling out and moving overseas.

The buyer would be responsible for the shipping. The shipper can pick it up here at my house, or I can haul her to Fort Smith, Arkansas to be shipped for a $75 charge. I am not responsible for any shipping damage or loss.
I will drive to meet you with her up to 100 miles one-way for me, for a charge of $100.
I am willing to store her for 30 days pending pick-up......as long as she is paid for in full within the 7 days prescribed. After 30 days, then there will be a $5 a day storage fee.
No returns allowed. I will however do my level best to make sure you are satisfied. Check my feedback. I shoot straight.
I require a $500 deposit to be made at Paypal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. I require the balance to be paid in full within 7 days of the auctions close, or at pick-up before the 7 days is out.
If you pay the deposit, and do NOT pay the balance within the 7 days, the auction will be declared void and I will KEEP your deposit for my troubles. I am not going to dun you for the payment.
Pay the balance via personal check or money order or cashiers check mailed to me (with time to clear of course). Or cash at pick up, assuming you do the pick-up within 7 days. If the listing says I accept credit cards, that is INCORRECT. Only Paypal for the deposit, and the balance only as stated.
I have the free & clear title.
