1980 HARLEY DAVIDSON XL 1000 SPORTSTER.
US Import. Newly UK registered on a W plate. current mot.
I bought this in Iowa last year . Bought from the original owner from new.

Nicel old man. Preferred to ride his bikes rather than clean them. !!
She had sat for a few years. So I`ve rebuilt the brakes with new pistons,pads & seals. Unblocked the original brake lines. They work very well for a Harley !!
New Avon tyres, new motobatt battery , and rebuild kit in the carb. She starts up well , and runs fine with no smoke or undue rattles.
Fairly standard bike. Except for the ubiquitous Drag Pipes . And pancake airfiter. ( Oh yes, new paper filter in there. Original foam one was degrading. )
Orginal Factory paint. Correct matching Engine & Frame numbers.
To my eternal shame I have yet to spend the time touching up the black bits, or buffing the alloy parts. Neither have I changed the oil ( It`s superclean.) So this bike will not be harmed from a proper service . And an in depth valet. She truly was " ridden then put away wet " over there !!
