I
have had this bike for twelve years and ridden it through many states and several
Canadian provinces.

I have no idea how many miles are on it since the speedometer
was broken when I got it. It has covered almost 50,000 miles since North
Hollywood Speedometer rebuilt the speedometer and tachometer. I painted over
the original metallic green when I got it, and have touched up the black paint regularly
since then. Years ago I painted the shark’s teeth to resemble the ones on Ju-87
Stuka dive bombers. It came to me with a replacement Brown side stand and Reynolds center stand, which are both improvements. My bikes live in a carport and show it, cosmetically. Fuel consumption
is between 42 and 48 mpg in a 6-gallon tank.
I
do all of my own work, and that includes the following:New
engine oil and filter at least four times a year; completely
rebuilt gearbox at a cost of nearly $1,000 a few months ago; braided
stainless steel brake lines and new pads last year; cylinder
heads rebuilt by a machinist with new valve guides, springs, and exhaust seats
last year; newclutch friction and steel discs and spring, as well as the rear engine seal, in
2017; upgraded
external shifting linkage a few years ago; new
timing chain a few years ago; solid-state
replacements for voltage regulator and starter relay; heavier-duty
Progressive front fork springs in 2007; after-market
exhaust years ago. There are fewer
than 2,000 miles on the Dunlop D404(R) and D401(F) tires.
It
is fully functional and tour-ready with the following caveats.The
front wheel has had a flat spot and the crack visible in the photo as long as I
have owned it. The
neutral light does not work, despite having replaced the sending unit.I
heavily modified the current saddle years ago and it is only clipped to the
frame.Rear
drive seal at the wheel weeps oil.I
have cut down the windscreen, which is discolored anyway. Replacements cost
about $200.The
middle lower fairing/cover is missing, possibly gone.Fairing-to-fork
tube rubbers, which I renewed in 2007, perished and are now gone.Steering
head bearings which I replaced in 2007 are slightly indexed.Audicator
turn-signal warning unit is still in place but stopped working recently.Included
are the original seat, which I reupholstered in black leather; the original fairing-mounted
mirrors; the original oil thermostat which I replaced with a GS oil line union
to facilitate oil filter replacement; original center stand (narrow and nasty);
a few cables and other items.I would consider delivering the bike after payment in full to places west of the Rockies, but we would have to negotiate that, including the cost of my trip home after the ride.
I
would keep this bike forever if I could!
