Up for auction is this well preserved, extremely original
Moto Guzzi V50 III. Small block Guzzi aficionados know that these Milan built bikes are all
together different, in terms of weight and handling, from the big block
original V-twins built in Mandello. They handle amazingly and get around the
bends with extraordinary capability.
This third version of the V50 came with the same tuned
engine as the sporting high performance Monza
derivative and for a 500cc has some pretty good giddy-up. This bike is very well
sorted and fully serviced. Very low mileage means plenty of life left in this
fine classic motorcycle. Though this bike has some patina in terms of surface
pitting or light rust, I suspect it would be hard to find one as complete and
well running that has not been restored.
This Guzzi has new Dyna coils and pointless ignition making
it run beautifully and reducing maintenance even further on a bike that already
demands very little. The forks were rebuilt using new seals and FAC high
performance dampers. The brake calipers rebuilt and new pads all around. New
brake lines are used throughout with the Guzzi foot pedal linked braking system
re-plumbed to conventional separate front and rear braking. The carbs have been
rebuilt and balanced. Hagon shocks compliment the rear suspension and a new
starter motor round out the improvements to this low mileage machine.
