Seller Description

Please Read!
Good Day!
I am selling my BMW 320i. I absolutely hate to see this car go. I bought it with huge ideas for it, but a child on the way, and a military deployment in the forefront has hindered that quite a bit. Below I will list everything I know about the car. I will be as thorough as possible, please know that although I am extremely picky and OCD I am NOT a mechanic, so here goes.
As the days pass, the car's mileage will increase slightly as I still drive it often, but as it sits today, the car has 172,099 miles. I also plan on taking it to Colorado this weekend (600 miles r/t). The dash gauges; speedometer, odometer, tachometer, temp, gas, and oil all work properly, as do all the lights/indicators i.e high/low beams, blinkers, bulbs, switches.
I recently purchased a carfax report for the car because I was curious about its history and what it may reveal. It was anticlimactic and states that there were two prior owners, 14 service records, it is clean and clear with NO accidents or issues known or reported. I will provide a full copy to the new owner or to anyone who provides me with their contact information and wants to see it. The car also has a clean and clear Kansas title that I have in-hand. The car is located in Kansas and buyer/winner is to make ALL arrangements for shipping/delivery. I would have provided pictures of both the title and the carfax but I thought pictures of the car would be more beneficial, I was only allowed to attach 12:/
I want to make no mistake about it, I hate to see this car go. It will make some lucky teen an awesome, perfect, safe, reliable, fun, cool first car (as it sits), or an enthusiast/collector the opportunity to own a beautiful iconic project car that still turns more heads than my Valencia Orange M-sport 2-Series EVER has. This thing was built and runs like a tank, it surpasses any and all expectations I ever had of the "car that replaced the 2002". In my opinion, it is only a matter of time until this car is just as desirable as its predecessor; the BMW 2002. If you look, you will only find handful of them out there, and even fewer than that that run, and even fewer with titles, and even fewer on the road, all lessons I have personally learned in my own pursuit to find and purchase one of these spectacular vehicles!
I have no issues believing this car has a lifetime left in front of it. Its practicality is unparalleled and it could also be easily turned into a collectors car, this thing is awesome and for the most part all stock. I have taken the front bumper and its brackets off but have them boxed up as well as a few other misc. parts, fuel filter etc that will all go to the new owner.
First off the car runs great! Upon request I can provide a video that I took this morning of a "cold start". It was about 9 degrees outside, please keep that in mind. Once the temperature has come up a little (usually about 25 seconds) the car runs smoothly with no surges, knocks, or funny noises. The car does not smoke, it runs at the appropriate temperature, and idles smooth as can be. When running, you can definitely hear it, the car has a very distinct/robust growl that I love. It is more tasteful then obnoxious. There are no known exhaust issues. When driving on the highway the car pulls ever so slightly to the left, something an alignment would remedy with no issue (OCD). The tires are quiet and the car is airtight.
The 5-speed transmission shifts like new as the clutch engages grabs strong and doesn't miss a beat. The only aspect of this car that I feel may be a little "finicky" is downshifting into 2nd gear (when slowing). It shifts perfectly fine you just need to "know" the car and how it likes to be shifted. There are no known issues with the transmission whatsoever and it shifts and pulls as strong as a 101hp and 101 ft-lb torque car should. It is as fun as can be to drive, believe the rumors!
The brakes of the car work great; just as they should. They do shake mildly at certain speeds, not all speeds, not all the time, maybe just certain conditions(?it's odd?); I am being overly picky, it might be because it is 37 years old and brakes have come quite a ways since then. The car has disc brakes in the front and drum rear brakes. The emergency brake engages and disengages properly and does not stick as I have heard some of the rumors.
The tires and wheels on the car are in exceptional shape.

The tires are about 8/32nds and the wheels look great despite a few dings here and there. They look far better than their age and are all true and round. I will also say, the day I purchased the car, someone offered me 800 bucks for the set; I didn't take him up on it.
All the glass on the car is OEM and free of any cracks. That said, the passenger side window does not roll up or down. I am not sure why, it may be due to a sticky handle, I just don't want to mess with it and get stuck with an open window because I like to drive it too much. The window is currently up and does not leak. The two rear windows that tilt open both work perfectly without any leaks or issues. The sunroof needs to be fixed, it is currently closed but requires "propping" to close. The part that will fix the sunroof is on order and will be here next week. I paid $140 bucks for it and will include it in the sale of the car. Yesterday, I also installed 2 new OEM hood mounts ($250) because the old ones were pretty shabby. Both doors open and shut properly as does the hood and trunk. The doors require a firm close as opposed to some I have seen that require a complete SLAM!
The body of the car is in fair shape, the car, before me, was involved in a super low speed collision. The car was parked when it was struck in a parking lot, no serious issues, all lights still work, but the rust has taken over a little bit in that small area, please see pictures of the passenger side rear. I have seen many rear quarter panels online that are super cheap, and would fix it no problem. If I were to fix anything on the car RIGHT NOW that would be it. I say this because 1- the car runs perfectly fine right now (I would however fix the oil pan gasket) so nothing mechanically 2- regardless of what anyone would want the car for; daily driver or project or both, this will need to be done at some point in the future anyway.
The paint on the car is original Delphin Metallic and is what it is (I personally love it). There are a couple areas in the rear quarter areas that have been prepped and/or taped off, I'm not really sure of the back story. I know there is a market for "vintage", "worn", or "distressed" looking vehicles and if that's what you're looking for this would be perfect! I have also had a couple of different people look at it as a project and believe you could get the car "paint ready" for a pretty reasonable price and minimal man hours.
The interior of the car is wowing, to my knowledge everything is original, EVERYTHING works right down to the left to right radio fader. The radio works, it is also the only part that is not stock, it is a pretty simple head unit (Sony). The lighter is present and works. All the lights, headlights, high/low beams, taillights, speedometer, tripmeter, r/l mirror, trunk/hood release, seat tilting/reclining/lower leg, seat belts, glove box, all work properly unless I have otherwise listed. The car doesn't stink at all and is free of any gross smells. The drivers side door sill is missing. small part 2-minute install.
If there is something that you are curious about that I have not provided any information about, or a certain area you are curious about or want pictures of please shoot me a note. The car is also equipped with OEM Recaro seats, they are in decent shape with a couple small cigarette holes and rips here and there. The seats are in far better shape than one would think of a when you think of a car nearly 40 years old. The overall condition of this car is more of a "COOL!" or "RAD!" than a typical 1-10 scale, if that makes sense...DISCLOSURE - This little e21 is a head turner as it sits right now, I can't believe what it would be like after a full restore! The potential for this car is endless, whether you want a fun gas-saving classic, or an iconic BMW masterpiece you are going to get a head-turner with this 320i.
I have tried to touch on the "cons" of the vehicle throughout my description but want to ensure that I disclose ALL that I know to be "wrong" with the car. -The car has heat but it only comes out of the lower foot/leg area, I'm not entirely certain why it does this. I have read some threads that indicate it could be air in the coolant line, not a huge deal to me either way. It could also be something as easy as this switch, because it needs a small repair.-Sunroof doesn't work properly, but will come with the cable that should remedy this issue. It is fine as is with something wedging it closed.-The car has some rust here and there but nothing terrible. There is a rust spot in the spare tire area that needs repair. There are also other spots on the car, please reference pictures or contact me and I can send you additional pictures of areas of concern not listed. -The car leaks some oil, nothing huge. I was told it needs an oil pan gasket. I have yet to have this verified but makes sense to me. It leaks super slow and does not require constant monitoring.-The previous owner removed the air-conditioning assembly from the car.-There are a couple of broken knobs and a few cracks in the dashboard.-Some of the plastic panels in the dash board are missing and are slightly lose.
Upon request I would be more than happy to furnish a video I took this morning when I started the car; it was well below freezing. Please just message me your phone number and I will send through text.
DISCLOSURE: I am not really certain what audience this ad will attract but I imagine it be pretty broad. I based my reserve price on the following facts: -What I paid -What I think it is worth -Demand and lack of like vehicle on the market -What it could be parted out for recaros/trans/wheels/motor etc
I am pretty knowledgable and will answer all questions to the best of my ability. **If it seems shady or suspicious I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID and report you to eBay.
***A $500.00 deposit (nonrefundable) is due within 24 hours of the auction end if I do not receive i will cancel auction and re-list while reporting you to eBay. The remainder of the payment will be MADE IN PERSON at the time of the pick-up
****The final cost of the auction does not include shipping, buyer is to pay and arrange all shipping logistics, once money is transferred I will not be responsible for moving.
