:A used, but running and complete 1983 Sportster XLX that somebody tried to customize, but would have been better of leaving the bike stock. It comes with plenty of nice spare parts including the factory original black painted exhaust pipes, and original fuel tank. Original factory speedometer and correct mileage on the bike. One day of elbow grease and a few well turned wrenches would put the bike back to a very good state of condition, well suited to be a daily rider if desired.

Seller Description

BEST WISHES TO ALL THE DECENT PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING TO PUT UP WITH POSSIBLY ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT TIMES OF THEIR LIVES AS A RESULT OF THIS VIRUS PANDEMIC.
This 1983 Sportster runs and shifts just fine. Somebody tried to customize it and it is my personal opinion that they should have just left the bike in stock trim. In any event, this would be a great buy for the vintage Iron Sportster enthusiast who would like to acquire a complete and running bike rather than a project. In the photos, there are saddlebags which I have removed to clean the look of the bike up a bit, but I am including them and every other item I have for this bike, including the stock exhaust pipes, footpegs, spare carburetor and many other items that can either be used or sold onward if desired. The previous owner had the dual spark plug heads installed on this bike and a set of Andrews cams as well, and an S&S Shorty carburetor and air filter. The bike starts and runs normally, shifts normally, and has a strong and smooth clutch without slippage. The lights work, but, the horn does not operate. The tires are both essentially in new condition. I am offering this bike for a very reasonable price. It is now an auction sale. I will accept an honest offer if it is not a lowball offer, but, having said that, I am certain that I am going to once again endure the endless questions from all of the dreamers and scammers who have nothing better to do but waste my time. I reserve the right to end the auction if I get a serious offer, so, no tears, no whining. If you want the bike enough to place a serious offer and are ready to pay for it, I have the title in hand and ready to sign over to you. I've started the bidding at a very reasonable $1,000.00 in an effort to to weed out the dreamers and see who truly has the desire to own a very decent Iron Sportster. This is a no reserve auction, but, like I said earlier, if I get a decent offer, I'll end the auction. If this approach somehow offends your sense of fair play, look at it this way. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Cash is king and speaks volumes to me. I won't respond to text messages as the scammers are out there in force. If you want to know anything more about the bike, contact me here.

If I think you are on a "fishing expedition", I won't bother to waste maytime with you. It all boils down to the basic principle of "Business 101". Money talks and bulls**t walks! Having said that, if you have placed a bid in earnest and somebody comes by with an offer that is not truly a significant amount of money over your bid, I'll honor your bid right through to the end of the auction. I'm sorry to say that if you have just joined e-Bay today or have a feedback score of less than 10, or with any negative comments, I will cancel your offer. I have had to endure too many scammers and I'm just simply tired of it and all the garbage that goes with it. I have a squeaky clean and clear Nevada title in my own name, ready to be handed to the successfull buyer of this bike. No hassles, no stories, no excuses, no putting any additional strain or headache upon the buyer. If you look closely, you'll see that any time I have sold a motorcycle, everyone was happy with their purchase. I can and will provide references of previous buyers if requested. I work out of the country for extended periods of time and I cannot devote any time to getting this bike back to stock condition, although I have removed the left side forward mounted shift linkage and installed the original shift lever. In reality, if the new owner spent an afternoon removing all of the "cool" items and reinstalled the stock items, they would have a very decent machine for a relatively low initial cost and be able to ride and enjoy it in a single day. There is a modern barrel type key ignition mounted in the normal location of the ignition switch and I have no idea as to why the previous owner spent lots of money trying the make the bike "cool", so to speak. About the only good improvement that I can see is the larger capacity fuel tank that looks good as well as keeping you from having to fill up every 60 miles or so. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, so ask away! I am not interested in any trades or partial trades, so, cash is king! You can come by to test drive the bike, assuming that you have the cash in hand at the time. If you drop it, you just bought it! I will not accept any liability for your safety and you ride the bike at your own risk, so please understand that beforehand. As the bike is 36 years old, I cannot offer any warranty other than that the bike is indeed in running condition, but I cannot be responsible for its use and handling once it leaves my possession. Of course, pickup is free, but if you decide to have the bike picked up and shipped to you, it will be at your own cost. I can hold the bike up to 45 days with no additional storage fees to allow adequate time for you to make your own shipping arrangements. A non-refundable deposit of $300.00 will be required within 24 hours by the buyer at the end of the sale. If you want to back out of the deal or change your mind, it's not a problem, but, you'll be out of pocket for $300.00. I can accept PayPal for both the initial deposit and final payment, but you must contact me via e-mail or telephone prior to sending the remaining balance due, or, if you don't want to communicate with me, just add the additional 3% fees that PayPal charges me for the privilege of your convenience. I think that you'll find it much cheaper to contact me first if you use the PayPal option. If it is of any help, I have a fantastic shipper who offers very reasonable rates and is stone cold sober and reliable. I'll provide his information to you once the bike is paid for and you can speak directly with him to make your own arrangements, plus, he is familiar with me as well as my location. International bidders must contact me before anything else happens. I will assist you in any way I can.Once the bike is paid for in full, it can be picked up. If you want the title and key overnighted to you by the USPS, it will set you back another $26.35 anywhere within the lower 48 states. It will have tracking information as well. I hope that everyone out there has not been adversely affected by the recent state of the pandemic and I hope that all of you will enjoy good health and prosperity, despite the initial difficulties that lie ahead of us. The best of good luck and happiness to one and all.
