Good ones like this are getting more and more difficult to find. This example comes out of a private Ford collection and is ready to go!
This 1985 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat is super clean. Before my stewardship of this fantastic example, it originally came out of Illinois where it was used as a driver, not a farm truck. Following that and immediately proceeding my ownership, it went to a Texas Ford collector of Fox body Mustangs and sixth and seventh gen F-series pickups, who purchased it in freshly restored condition from the Illinois owner and it was used as an occasional driver on fairweather days. Both the previous owner and myself have been cautious stewards of this truck . For the last two years, I have marketed it quietly while I have enjoyed ownership, but now it is time for someone else to enjoy the truck. Yes, I am a dealer, but this F-150 has not been sitting on a lot somewhere and has been in my private collection where it is stored indoors.
This F-150 is a XLT with the Lariat package before the Lariat was stand-alone trim. This includes luxury features for the time, such as power windows, power door locks, power steering, tilt steering column, dual fuel tanks, air conditioning, and sliding rear glass window. It was repainted approximately five years ago in the original factory livery and has been lovingly cared for since.
Power comes from a legendary 351-ci V-8 backed up by a strong shifting automatic transmission transferring power to a nine-inch rear end. It breathes easy thanks to an upgraded Edelbrock carburetor, Ford Racing air cleaner, a steel 2.5 inch cowl hood, and a dual exhaust system. The restoration included many mild but tasteful upgrades along with renewed factory parts including new upholstery, new American Racing wheels, brakes, shocks, and exhaust, new lights, chrome trim, grille, bezels, emblems, weatherstripping, glass, a trailer tow package with a brake controller, a VIPER alarm system with starter interrupt, two Kicker amps, two Kicker 6x9 speakers, a Kicker ProComp subwoofer with a Kenwood head unit.
I start and idle the truck weekly and drive it occasionally, depending on the weather. I have put a few hundred miles on it in the last few years, very similar to how the previous owner maintained it. The truck is certainly capable of being driven everyday. Support for these Fords are excellent with parts being readily available with serviceability being quite simplistic.

Q: Are you a dealer?A: Yes, we are a dealer, but as described, this is not really “dealer inventory.”
Q: Do I have to pay taxes?A: Yes, in your home state. If you are in Texas, we will collect the taxes based on the final sales price. By placing a bid, the buyer agrees to pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes) within 7 business days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle. Additional fees and taxes are not included and are in addition to the final sales price. Out of state buyers are responsible for all state, county, city taxes and fees, as well as title/registration fees in the state that the vehicle will be registered. If you choose not to register the vehicle, your home state may offer a "title only" where you do not have to register the vehicle. Once we complete the transaction, we will provide the title to out of state residents and it is solely their responsibility to complete the tax transaction in their home state/country.
Q: You mention more photos. Where can I find them?A: We are Fast Lane Direct and we are located in Texas. The additional photos are hosted on our website. We are easy to find through a web search.
Q: Is the paint original?A: No. It has had a previous high quality respray. Paint is above average and regional show quality but not national concours quality.
Q: Is there rust or damage I should know about?A: There is no rust present on the body. Some light pitting can be found on some trim and the front bumper as well as light oxidation on the billet oil pan and exterior mirrors. The frame is treated with an undercoating with some of the undercoating showing minor flaking from the age of the application, but no rust. There is a scratch on the right rear side of the bed, near the tail light.

Q: Is it numbers matching?A: All classic and collectible vehicles we sell are assumed "non-matching" unless there is documentation provided to us by the previous owner when we acquired the vehicle. Interested parties are welcome to inspect it in person to verify any stampings, etc.
Q: Can I get a CarFax?A: Sure. They’re $39.99. Expensive in my opinion but they have to pay the bill for the heavy marketing they do. We do not run a CarFax on anything older than 15 years as they are terribly unreliable and nothing beats an in-person inspection. The VIN is listed if you would like to run one.
Q: Is the mileage accurate?A: Yes. The odometer is functional and believed to be on its second lap.
Q: If I bid and win, do I have to buy the truck?A: A growing trend here seems to be bidding, winning, and vanishing. Please review eBay’s terms of service before you bid or buy. As much as we enjoy paying numerous insertion fees, we fully expect the winning bidder to finish the deal.
Q: How much is the reserve?A: Reasonable and much less than what is invested overall. We have offered the truck privately with interest from a few tire kickers who are looking to sharpen their negotiating skills with no intention of finishing a deal with anyone. Others “forgot” to check with their spouse. It's time to find a buyer and we'll let the bids handle the negotiations.
Q: This is exactly what I have been looking for! Can I buy it now?A: You can place a bid through eBay which alone will be a barometer of your level of commitment. If we do not find a successful buyer, we will consider the high bid through eBay, whatever it may be, and we will let the bidding speak for itself. Can we finish the deal when I get the money next week?A: No. Don't bid unless you have the funds ready. Q: Oh, you're just a dealer trying to flip it and make money?A: Yes and no, however, our accountants like for us to show a profit at the end of the year. We are not running a vehicle charity. Do we need to make a whole grip of cash like the guys on television that hoot and holler a lot? No, that is not our goal nor is that reality. Many exclusive and significant vehicles pass through our possession with no fanfare. That is the way we like it. We are simply trying to bring buyer and seller together in a transparent way.
Q: Are you wanting way too much for it?A: It’s not a C/10.
Q: Can I come look at it?A: Of course! You are more than welcome to come inspect it. There is nothing to hide and we encourage inspections. This truck is in storage and is not sitting outside on a lot somewhere. Inspections, viewings, and test drives are by appointment only.
Q: Can I buy it and then renegotiate when I come to pick it up?A: If we have inaccurately represented the vehicle, that is our fault and we will take responsibility. If you have made unrealistic assumptions and are looking to play a "gotcha game," that is not our fault and we will not take responsibility. Will you knock some off the price because I have to ship it really far away?A: No, but we will help you arrange shipping at your expense. We have a dedicated transporter for regional shipments and we ship cars weekly. We get fair rates with pretty prompt pickup times because we always have vehicles coming and going. You are welcome to book your own transportation or pick it up in person. You will need a freight forwarding agent for international/overseas shipments.

Will you take half of what you were asking?A: If that is the case, there are plenty of clapped out pickups available in your price range. One of those may be a better fit for your restoration skill set and budget. We regularly market and sell classic and specialty interest vehicles, so we are familiar with the market as well as the typical profiles of actual buyers.
Q: I thought you were asking too much. Can I contact you to give you my amateur opinion on what it is worth?A: No. We have listened to the market and set a fair reserve. If you feel the reserve is unfair, there are other examples out there to better fit your budget. This is not the only one so you are welcome to simply pass and focus your bidding/purchasing efforts on another example. We are very pleased that you are passionate about the vehicle, but our goal is to facilitate the sale of this vehicle to the next owner. What’s your cash price?A: Considering we don’t take Bitcoin or bearer bonds, we assume you’re going to pay using cash or a method of payment that is comparable. The price you bid is the price you’ll pay regardless of how you pay. This isn’t the 1970’s; it really doesn’t matter to us if you’re pulling out C-notes, send funds through a legitimate non-Nigerian bank wire, or if your bank strokes a check. As long as whatever you give us clears the bank, it really doesn’t matter, and the price is the price.
Q: How much would my payments be?A: That would be between you and your bank. We are not a "note lot." Yes, we do have lenders who will loan on the vehicle. You will need very good to excellent credit and roughly 10% down. Before the close of the auction would be the time to begin this process if you are unsure of your credit history.
Q: My bank charges a $0.30 convenience fee for a cashier’s check. Can I pay with a personal check to avoid the bank’s ridiculous fee?A: Sure, but before we release the vehicle or the title, there will be a 10-day wait period.

Q: Wow! I looked it up and the “book value” is really off. Will you sell it to me for book value?A: You may try to buy one from one of the "book" publishers. They must have a lot of vehicles in stock. We have it priced to the market, not to what an editor sitting behind a bunch of spreadsheets looking at thousands of different years, makes, and models in Costa Mesa, California believes it is worth.
Q: I saw one exactly like this sell at one of the auctions on television. Will you take what that one sold for less a bunch of weird stuff like auction commissions and registration fees?A: It wasn't this one. We encourage you to register to bid next time.
