Seller Description
This is a 1988 Caterham Super 7. It has had 3 owners from new and has been very well looked after. It has a complete, detailed set of documentation from the original pre-sales enquiry through to the original sales order and every purchase, MOT/roadworthy it has ever undergone.
The car is a complete Super Sprint, with the 1,700cc Ford Kent engine (711M block) with twin Weber 40 carbs. It has a Ford Sierra 5-speed gearbox/differential and the desirable De Dion rear axle.
This car is in the classic Prisoner colours (Green and yellow), complete with the Caterham original Prisoner 15" wheels and black leather seats. It has its original tonneau cover and wet wether gear. There are no cracks, hazing or crazing of the windows.
It was supplied from new (in kit form) with the rarer tail exit exhaust, making it it a great cruiser and much nicer on the neighbours! The kit was originally assembled by a mechanic, rather than the owner.
Imported into Queensland in early 2018, it has since undergone an extensive mechanical refresh which includes:
1. Re-built engine (piston rings, cam, crank and main bearings, head flowed)2. New fuel lines3. New oil lines4. Refurbished original Spax shocks (by WW Shock Absorbers)5. New radiator mounts6. New exhaust mounts7. Gearbox speedo sender seal replaced8. New (old stock) clutch cable9. New rubber bushes for front and rear sub-frames and steering column10.
4 new tyres (1,600km since fitting)11. New wiper arms and blades
Cosmetically, the car has not been touched in 31 years (deliberately). It is in good condition and carries its patina exceptionally well. This is a genuine, honest car that is all about the driving experience. Other than the parts replaced to keep it running properly, it is exactly as it was when it was made in 1988 which just adds to its charm!
It is always garaged and covered with a tailored Covercraft Dustop cover (will be included in the sale). It is also left connected to a battery conditioner when not being used (not included in the sale).
You won't find a more sorted, honest, proven Super 7 around.
