Seller Description

Reluctantly selling my 1991 164L. I have had this car for several years and have restored it to truly beautiful condition. The car was long time owned by a local Alfa Club member who did the maintenance and kept a log of all work performed. It then went to another local enthusiast who put in a rebuild motor and sold the car to me. I bought the car and really fell in love with it. I had the car painted and have had a bunch of maintenance performed at a local Alfa Specialist. I sourced a set of "Q" mirrors as well as a set of "deli-slicer" wheels off a 164S which I then had refurbished by a wheel restorer. Also includes a set of Bosch Euro headlights I sourced from Italy but have not yet installed. Only selling because I just don't drive it enough and would rather give someone else a chance to really use and enjoy the car. I really love this car, and I need it to go to an Alfa enthusiast who understands these truly unique and amazing cars, and is comfortable with their quirks and upkeep.

Car has 175k miles but it has a newer rebuilt motor which was installed 4-5 years ago. Not sure how many miles on this motor, but it runs exceptionally smoothly with no smoke/etc. and I do not add any oil between oil changes. Timing belt was replaced at that time, but this is not indicated in the records as he did the work himself along with the motor swap. I would recommend change timing belt within the next 10k miles.
Paint is beautiful, no scratches/dings/etc. I get compliments everywhere I go and it is always a hit at Cars and Coffee despite being a relatively inexpensive car compared to some others that are there. It has a set of the Uber-Rare Alfa Tan Recarro's which I sourced from California and are in excellent condition! Tires are Michelin Primacy MX-4 and have excellent tread life. Brakes are good, steering, handling, etc all excellent. Also includes a custom fit Covercraft car cover.
The Issues: So it is an Alfa :) and the following are the known issues:1) The common fuel smell in the trunk. Not noticeable with windows up and fan on, but when windows down you get a gas smell. My mechanic hasn't been able to locate it and has checked over everything extensively, but it is definitely from the trunk. I have a fuel pump seal for a 164 LS but have not installed yet.2) Sunroof opens up but won't slide back. When I had the car repainted I had a new sunroof seal installed and it seems to "catch". I just haven't taken the time to fix.3) Heater electronics sometimes a little wonky. Fan can be switched between speed 1 and 2 but can't shut off. When in auto mode everything works fine at all fan speeds! AC works great and blows cold. Steppers were replaced with brass units several years ago.4) Clutch probably 20% life left, works very well now but eventually will need to be replaced.5) Small transmission fluid leak. My mechanic tops off every several months. Not sure where its coming from and he said it's small sobetter to just top it off and maybe fix later if you would ever have to really get into the engine/etc.
Bottom Line..... This is as beautiful a 164 as you will see anywhere. It is an older car, and you can expect to do some wrenching on it to keep it in tip top shape. But it is a very rare and cosmetically stunning car that any true Alfa enthusiast should be proud to own and show.
