This is a 1999 Jaguar X308 XJ8 Sport with a Jaguar AJ-8 216kW naturally aspirated 4.0 liter V8 engine. We purchased the car in 2008 with a dead motor which had the usual problem of the timing chain tensioners letting go. I replaced the motor with a 4.0 liter V8 from a Jaguar S-Type. The engine from the S-Type has done 50000km less than the mileage showing in the car. The timing chains and tensioners were replaced in the engine before placing in the car. The car is fitted with a ZF 5HP24 5 speed gearbox which has also been rebuilt. The car has been a daily driver in and around Canberra for 10 years till we retired 18 months ago and has been very reliable. Now that we are retired we have purchased a caravan and are now looking to get a 4x4 to tow it, so it is time for the old girl to move on. The vehicle has minor scrapes and bumps and the head lining is dropping which is usual for a car that is 21 years old. The car has just passed NSW road worthy and is registered till March 2021.
