Used 2001 Volvo V70 Used Gold 2.4L Automatic Petrol Estate

Seller Description

Volvo V70 2.4 petrol auto estate. Exterior has definitely seen better days, with most panels having some kind of ding or scratch (looks like the previous owner liked parking very close to pretty much everything).
The interior is surprisingly good, usual tear in the driver’s seat bolster, the rest of the leather is in really good condition, with no significant marks on the pillars and headlining as well.
The car is MoT’d until 27th March 2020, starts, runs and drives. We bought it in April 2018 as a quick fix while in between cars but ended up keeping it because, well, it’s a Volvo and we have 2 kids and 2 dogs. It does what it does very well, in that it’s huge, comfortable, and cruises well at speed.
New and exciting recent developments include:
- dash error message on starting after unlocking: Alarm system service required- dash error message appearing intermittently: Emission system service required- dash error message appearing intermittently, but on most of the time now: Brake failure stop safely asap
Now, I will admit that last one scared the crap out of me when it first appeared, but it clears itself when driving, and everything in the braking system works as normal, including the ABS system. I’m guessing it’s an electrical problem, rather than a genuine braking system error. Could be worth pulling the central control unit and checking / cleaning the contacts. As such it is being sold as spares / repair due to the error messages and intermittent idling issues (sometimes low, sometimes rough). The rear wiper motor has died, and the driver’s door doesn’t open from the inside (something went “clunk” and now the handle is stuck, I’m guessing it just needs re-attaching to the cable).
I’m selling the car as I’ve already upgraded to a diesel golf GT TDI, so I’m starting the auction at scrap value. Could be a nice cheap family shed or workhorse, or taken for spares.
