Seller Description
**PLEASE NOTE - THIS VEHICLE IS AN ELECTRICAL NON-RUNNER. WILL NEED RECOVERING BY WINNING BIDDER**
BMW Z4 3.0i Roadster in Titan Silver with 101,000 miles being sold for “spares or repair”
Here’s what happened. Please don’t laugh. Well, OK, laugh.
.. everyone else has.
The car wasn’t getting used much and as a result the battery (which was already quite old) gave up the ghost and needed to be replaced. Looking in the battery box in the boot, a large red plastic positive terminal cover was over the terminal on the right as you looked at it and I therefore ordered a battery according to what I saw without actually checking the battery itself. I think you can see where this is going.
Long story short - I bought the wrong battery and ended up wiring the car up the wrong way round, albeit only for a few minutes. But the damage was done. I subsequently bought the correct battery, changed half a dozen fuses, checked relays and so on, but still nothing. And it drains, to the point of failure,a brand new battery in a matter of days.
So electrically, it has some serious, and probably terminal issues.
The rest of it, however, is in pretty good order.
It was quite a well spec’d car when it was new, with electrically adjusting, heated leather seats, electric folding & heated mirrors, passenger airbag disable, upgraded hi fi (amp in the boot next to battery & extra speakers), parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, and headlamp washers.
The bodywork is in good order, with only a small minor “car park” repair on the near side front wing, some lacquer peeling on the rear bumper and some rust spots appearing on the near side quarter panel where it meets the soft top. Engine is strong having only done 101K miles and was serviced at BMW only in March this year, as the service book will show. MOT is good until October. Roof is in goodcondition and was working well before the electrical issues.
A couple of final points - the Z4 has been the best car I've ever owned, so much so I'll probably get another one. With that in mind, I've kept the original BMW 108 split rim wheels and picked up a set of black BMW 18" M Sport alloys (pictured) to put the car on for being recovered by the buyer. The tyres on these wheels are NOT legal, but then the car is a non-runner anyway. Oh, and the cup holders - Ididn't realise these were options from BMW and as my next Z4 may not have them fitted, I've removed them from this car.
In terms of getting the vehicle recovered, you could try the following website -https://www.shiply.com - for a quote on how much itwould cost.
And that's about it, I think... please feel free toask any questions, and happy bidding!
Thanks for looking.
