This is an absolutely perfect Mercedes SUV. It is being sold as part of a divorce. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, either mechanically or appearance wise. The divorce is the sole reason for it being offered for sale.
My selling price is $25.999, which is a savings of $66.986 (!!!) over the cost of when it was on the dealer's lot! It runs and operates exactly as Mercedes-Benz intended. There are no funny noises, no driving quirks and certainly no drips or leaks. No warning lights. All maintenance is current. It is an absolute pleasure to drive. If you didn't know, you'd think it was a brand new SUV from the way it drives and operates. Truly, it's that nice. It is a true testament to Mercedes quality.
Everything, and I mean everything, works exactly as Mercedes' designers and engineers intended.
The seats are in gray leather. The front seats are heated, air conditioned and are massaging! They, of course, have memory and lumbar support. The wood trim is honest-to-goodness genuine burl walnut. No cheap plastic here! The third-row seats have Mercedes' EASY-ENTRYв„ў feature. The second- and third-row seats fold flat and the second row has the optional pass-through feature. The four doors have the cool soft-close feature. No need to slam 'em! Just give the doors a gentle touch and they pull themselves closed and latched securely.
There is Bluetooth interface for hands-free calling. Bluetooth connectivity for audio streaming. MP3 media interface. Mercedes' COMMANDв„ўnavigation. A color display central controller. Equipped with harmon/kardon LOGIC7в„ў surround sound with 830 watts stereo output. The car also has the rear seat entertainment system with headphones that is a $1,950 extra-cost option. Two 115-volt AC power outlets. The car has a changeable ambient lighting package for the interior.
There is a 360-degree surround view camera system. (You'll never again skin your front bumper on a curb with this feature!) Anti-theft alarm system. Automatically folding outside rearview mirrors. Unlock and lock doors with the wave of your hand. Power liftgate. ISOFIXв„ў (for child safety seats) anchoring on all rear seats.
One of the nicest features the SUV has is the Driver Assist Packageв„ў, a $1,950 option. This includes DISTRONIC PLUSв„ў (with PRE-SAFEв„ў brakes) active blind spot assist and active lane-keeping assist.(I have actually tested the braking feature by taking my hands off the steering wheel and my foot off the brake pedal and have come up at 35 mph behind cars stopped at a traffic light and the car stayed in the lane and came to a full stop without me ever touching the brake pedal!!! Scary? YES! But way cool!
This SUV also is equipped with the Mercedes' optional ($320) Parking Assist Packageв„ў. This is the hands-free, self-steering feature that does parallel parking for you.

Another feature I really like is the Bi-Xenon headlamps. These are super bright, are self dimming when meeting approaching traffic, and the headlights angle left as you turn left and angle right when you turn right, an amazingly useful feature on curving roads and highways. The rest of the bulbs on the car are all LEDs. Incidentally, I've never had a fuse or bulb anywhere on the vehicle to blow.
KEYLESS-GOв„ў push-button starting. The climate control is a three-zone system. Privacy glass.
Under the hood, the car is powered by a 4.6 liter, V8 Bi-turbo engine with direct injection. The engine is rated at 429 horsepower with 516 lb-ft of torque. There is a 7-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles. It has full-time, all-wheel drive designed to increase traction in slippery conditions. It is equipped withAIRMATICв„ў Air Suspension and an adaptive damping system with Sport and Comfort modes. The suspension is independent, both front and rear, and it is automatically height adjusted according to the load. (This baby is faster than a standard-motored Corvette, and weighs 1,000 more!) Incidentally, the car itself is assembled in Vance, Alabama, and the motor and transmission are both produced inUntertГјrkheim/Stuttgart,Germany,and shipped to this country. Incidentally, the car was sold new by Crown Eurocars of St. Petersburg, Fla.
The SUV has the optional ($550) trailer hitch and is rated for 7,500 pounds of towing capacity. It has Mercedes' Electronic Stability Programв„ў (ESP) with ESP Trailer Stabilizationв„ў. It also has roof rails for roof-top luggage hauling.
The car rolls on 21" AMG sport wheels with Continental 195/40R21 tires, rated for 60,000 miles. The tires have slightly more than 23,000 miles of use. There's zero curb rash on any of the four wheels. Red signature AMG wheel hub inserts (center caps). Red AMG calipers with Akebono Ultra-Premium ceramic disc brake pads on all wheels. The rear rotors were replaced with OEM rotors. The fronts did not require replacing. The ceramic brake pads virtually eliminate the dusting problem that makes your wheels look dirty even soon after they are cleaned. They also have super stopping power. The factory spare tire has never been on the ground. The jack has never been used and no tools are missing.
Recent maintenance:
Tires rotated
and balanced. Inflation checked and tuned as per Mercedes' door jamb
inflation instructions. The front end and all-wheel alignment was
checked and was found to be within specifications.
The oil was changed about 80 miles ago using Mobil 1 0W-40 full synthetic oil and the correct fleece-material Mann oil filter. (Mann is the OEM brand
filter and fleece is the correct filtering material. Mobil 1 0W-40 European Car Formula is the
Mercedes-Benz-recommended engine oil.) Every oil change has been within the recommended service cycle as recommended by Mercedes. NEVER has the mileage exceeded the oil change recommendation. The car has neverrequired "topping off" between oil changes.All Mercedes Service Schedules (A, B & C) have been followed.Every underhood
fluid and filter have just been checked. None required any topping off. The air filters were replaced about two thousand miles ago and on recent inspection are
in near-new condition. The cabin filter was also replaced about two thousand miles ago and it also is in near-new condition. (The car
has never been driven on a dirt road, not even an unpaved driveway!)
The two
batteries (one for starting and one auxiliary) were tested and each checks well within tolerances. An amp
draw test was performed and it was determined that nothing is slowly
draining the batteries. The alternator was tested and it was
determined to have the proper output. The car has never blown a fuse
or had one that needed to be replaced.
The interior of
the car, though always meticulously maintained, has been professionally detailed, down to using plastic picks
to pull any and all dust out from between the tiniest spaces between
parts and pieces. The carpet did not require any steam cleaning. The front leather seats required nothing more than a wiping with a
leather cleaner followed with a leather conditioner. Both rows of rear seats needed
nothing other than conditioning. (I am positive no one has ever sat
on the third row of seats and I can't think of a time when someone
rode on the second-row seats. Maybe so, but I can't remember an
occasion.) Incidentally, we have no children, so no worries about sticky hand prints anywhere.
The engine
compartment was professionally detailed. (It never been allowed to become dirty, and really wasn't too dusty, so this was a quick and simple 10-minute
process.) The underside of the hood looks like it did when it was new.
The exterior of
the car has been thoroughly detailed, removing all evidence of road
tar, bugs and anything similar. The paint was clay finished to
remove micro contaminants before the being waxed with a genuine
carnuba wax. There are no rock chips to speak of and there are no windshield chips or cracks.
All four wheels were
removed and the reverse sides were cleaned and detailed, thus removing all road tar and other evidence of contamination. Even the
tiny rocks were individually removed from the tread. None of the
tires has ever required a repair and all maintain even and proper air
pressure. The wheel wells were cleaned to perfection and detailed.
The front brake
pads were were replaced with USA-made Akebonoo Ultra-Premium Ceramic
Disc Brake Pads less than 100 miles ago. The rears were replaced with the same Akebono pads
several months ago. New rotors were also installed on the rear at
that time. Akebono ceramic brake pads are long lasting, have
superior stopping power and create virtually no dust that dirties up
your wheels. The front rotors were checked and found to be completely within
tolerances. The brake fluid system was flushed and Pentosin DOT 4
fluid was installed as per Mercedes' recommendations.The car has never been in a traffic accident.The rear lift gate was replaced after being bumped in a church parking lot mishap. The damage was contained to an area that could be completely covered by something the size of a credit card. The damage was more like a door ding and it was dented in only about 1/8th of an inch. Only the lift gate had the ding. There was no damage to the bumper cover, quarter panels, tail lights, etc. We have good insurance so they paid for a brand new genuine Mercedes lift gate rather than having the dinged one repaired. The work was done by a Mercedes-approved independent repair facility and even under the closet scrutiny, the replacement work cannot be detected. Only the lift gate was painted. There is ZERO paint blending anywhere on the body. The paint is matched to perfection. I am absolutely meticulous in my care and concern for my cars, and I, myself, am amazed!Other service records and receipts are included.
This is a great SUV. It is quick and it drives super and handles well. I hate to sell it, but oh well, such is life. It drives more like a car than it does a truck because it employs uni-body construction as opposed to "body-on-frame" construction. It is as comfortable and solid as a $150,000-plus Mercedes S-class sedan while a Cadillac Escalade is really just a posh SUV built on a GM truck chassis. Make no mistake: There is a huge difference in ride and handling!Shipping (or picking the car up) is the responsibility of the buyer. I will, however, be delighted to work with your delivery company.
