Make me a decent offer!!A very rare 1958 Vespa Douglas 42/92L2 125cc from the Bristol factory. Matching numbers.
First registered May 0f that year... 63 years old! The rarityis in the cowling around the headlamp. This model is not like the later 1958's and 1959's which had a much larger cowling that covered up most of the chrome handlebars. This '58 is more like a '57. There are hardly any photos on the internet showing a machine such as mine with the smaller cowling around the headlight.It’s got that iconic design that has lasted throughout the years to present
day.
There may be only a handful of these old Bristol manufactured machines still
in existence and they deserve to be maintained and cherished.
I believe it was restored in the late 80’s/early 90’s and the then owner
changed the registration to an age related plate, to which I have all the
relative paperwork, plus photos of the scooter prior to this date.
It’s been store in my garage for the past 16 years and regularly turned
over.
With new fuel it started up within a few kicks.
It could now obviously do with a good service and the clutch/gear cables
adjusted to give a smoother gear change. In addition the kill switch wiring
needs attention.
The speedo is showing 56,598 miles which is a testament to its
reliability. However there was an additional Speedo that came with it (needs slight repair) showing 18,157 miles. That could well be the original one.
Being first registered in 1958, it’s MOT and Tax exempt. [hidden information] for

It comes with a big box of spares which include the original wind shield
brackets for this model, which I’ve been told are as rare as hen’s teeth.
