saleThis 1969 Chevrolet
Camaro has been completely rebuilt with a serious performance in mind. The car
was purchased by the current owner in 2012 as an unfinished project. It was
chosen mainly for the body which had all original panels, chrome and glass and by
all indications, had never been a rusty car. The car was professionally painted
in Brisbane in 2012 and still looks fantastic today. The chassis subframe was
all removed, sandblasted and powder coated before being fitted back in place.
Chassis strengtheners join the subframe at the front to the rear. Front
suspension is QA1 coil overs while the rear runs mono leafs with Caltracs and
Koni shocks. Stopping power is provided by an electric brake booster feeding
SSBC 4 piston callipers on 13″ rotors up front with Willwood 4 piston callipers
grabbing disks on the rear.Poking its head out
from under the bonnet is a built, blown and injected small block Chev V8. The
engine itself is a 383ci stroker built by Abbot Engines in Southport and
started with a brand new block and built up using all Scat 4340 internals,
alloy heads, 671 blower, Endelie injection hat set up on E85 and running a
Haltec engine management system. The final product was then tuned by Horsepower
Solutions in Capalaba to make approx 750hp at the fly. The owner tells us that
the car never overheats and credits the upgraded alloy radiator with twin
electric thermo fans.Paired to the engine
is a TH400 Automatic transmission with custom built 3500 convertor by The
Convertor Shop in Brisbane. A custom driveshaft feeds the power from the box to
a built and braced 9″ diff with Trutrac centre and 35 spline axles. Fuel system
has a Stealth tank with a lift pump to a surge tank in the boot which is
running twin fuel pumps feeding 8 x 1700cc injectors. The chassis, diff and
inner guards are all neatly powder coated. Hooker Super Competition headers
paired to a full custom exhaust and Flow master mufflers give the exhaust a
great rumble that sings in symphony with the sound of the blower whine.The interior was
completely redone in its original style black trim in 2012 and still looks near
immaculate today. It maintains a neat factory look with the addition of a black
Stealth B&M shifter, a Forever Sharp billet steering wheel and an Autometer
tacho and gauges.
The car sits
perfectly on a set of Boyd Cottington 20″ x 9″ wheels on the rear and 18″ x 7″
on the front. A second bonnet with a 4″ cowl is also available with the car
should the new owner decide they want to stuff the head of the engine back
under the bonnet. The car has a bunch of other cool touches including Ring
Bothers billet hood hinges, a billet air filter and billet fender braces. The
Camaro is one very tough street car, its not for the faint of heart or the
