Seller Description
NO MUCKING AROUND THE HIGHEST BIDDER GETS IT!Up for auction with no reserve and a 99c start is a 1971 BSA Thunderbolt A65T. A classic British road bike. The BSA Thunderbolt is the single carb version of the Lightning and has the advantage of not having to adjust and keep in sync two carbs.I've read and been told that the performance difference isn'tmuch at all but all I know is that I have hardly ever needed to adjust the carb while I've owned it which is a good thing in my opinion. The bike runs and handles surprisingly well, faster than what you'd think for a bike of its age. These bikes like all old bikes and cars are on the increase value wise but I want to move it on to fund something else and I don't really use it that much. I've got another bike which I use more often. The bike presents very well, starts easy and runs great. No dents in the tank and the seat cover is not torn. The stock Dunstall type pipes have a great note but aren't loud at all. Have a close look at the photos they speak for themselves. It starts 2 or 3rd kick when cold,(but sometimes in one kick) and first kick when its warm. The engine is tight and the 4 speed manual gearbox and clutch all work fine.Matching engine and frame numbers A65THE11619Here's a video link to it onYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT2j9qGUcK4Since I've owned it I have completedthe following on it:New Battery in November 2018New SRM Pressure Plate you can see a pic of this. I also replaced the inner clutch hub and cush drive, the clutch works better than ever now. Staysadjusted and doesn'tslipNew Lucas rotorPazon Electronic Ignition,no more points it runs heaps better, smoother and starts easier too.Two brand new Bridgestone tyresNew Chain and sprockets November 2018.Brakes checked and adjusted, primary chain checked and adjusted. The current black side covers on it are after market but I will supply the originals, you can see a photo of these. It's only two bolts to change them over but I like the aftermarket ones better than the angular stock ones.Personal choice.I will supply a set of fork gaiters, foot peg rubbers and the rubber tip for the gear lever which I am waiting on.It's a Lams approved motorcycle and of course iseligiblefor Historic registration due to its age. It's easy to ride, quiet and frugal on fuel.Ibelieveit would be an appreciating asset as thereisn'tmany around in this condition.I'm not sure what month exactly it was built in.So I just took a guess from my research its a 1971 model and is registered as that.I'm unsure of the actual mileage of the bike but the engine had been rebuilt by the previous owner the speedo says 25,000 but I'm not sure about it,it could be correct I'm not sure but by the look of the bike it could be right. It doesn't burn oil or smoke and I've never had an issue. Like all classic British bikes it does leak a tiny bit of oil after a ride but that's about it.I'd be lying if I said it didn't but its ok,not really an issue at all.But have a good look at the pics anyway as they form part of the description. There are small scratches here and there and tiny amounts of surface rust on the bike consistent with its age; most of itisn'ttoo bad. It is an old bike after all! Once again please check the photos as they form part of the description. Not stolen, written off or under finance, please feel free to check the VIN Number on the net to confirm this. Bike is currently Historic registered in Vic which cant be transferredso the new owner will need a roadworthy to get it into their name.
Bidding starts at 99 cents and there is no reserve, if you want it please bid on it. The bike wont disappointthe winner. If you want a cheap classic collectable bike this could be it. Who knows what it could be worth later on.More than plenty of parts available for this bike world wide, plenty of knowledge around for them too and if you wanted to make it concourse you could easily do it.But I like it as it is. It works fine and looks great.
