Seller Description

1979 900SS Ducati
This is my personal bike. It needs nothing, mechanically it is perfect, cosmetically it is very good, consistent with its age, see pictures. Starts reliably from cold, warm or hot,
and once warm idles perfectly. If you are an enthusiast of vintage and classic Ducati you probably know my website Ducatimeccanica, and therefore are familiar with my and my wife Sue's bikes. If not, this bike is offered for sale there too, along with a fair bit of information for bevel Ducati enthusiasts.
The bike has polished edge FPS wheels, 40mm carbs, original Conti
exhaust system, Brembo goldline callipers, which even have the original
Brembo "date of manufacture" rings on the lines still. CEV turn signals,
Veglia gauges (both fully functioning). The bike has both seats (solo and dual), I normally use the dual seat for touring as it is more comfortable for longer rides, both come with the sale. Cosmetically the bike is in good condition, as can
be seen from the pictures. The bike was in good condition when I got it,
and therefore did not need a full restoration, I merely did a lot of
taking apart and cleaning, and replacing of worn or missing parts. It is
a very nice unmolested 900 SS.
I did install RaceTech Gold Valve Emulators, which I highly recommend.
They are an invisible improvement and do not compromise the
original look of the forks, only the ridability of the bike. They could
be removed very easily for the absolute purists out there. Other than that the only
non-original parts on the bike are the bar end mirrors and the velocity
stacks... the original velocity stacks were grey, the ones I have now
on the bike are black. I have pod filtres that I fit when I'm riding it, they will come with the bike.
Brake pads, tires, battery, fork seals, break fluid etc. are all new in the last
couple of years. Compression is excellent, no oil leaks... ready to
ride, or put in your living room. I ride it every opportunity I get, but
once it's yours you can relegate it to museum duty if you want. I think
it would be a crime, but by then it will be yours and I won't have any
say in the matter.
Everything you've ever heard, or read, about how fantastic a beveldrive Ducati 900SS is to ride is true... they are fabulous machines.
This one has been my favoured touring bike for the last few years. I would (and have many
times) get on it tomorrow and ride to BC, Montana, or California for
that matter, without concern.
I and the bike are in southeastern Alberta, western Canada.
Why have I decided to part with it, if it's such a great bike? ... I am
about to retire, hopefully to British Columbia, and have restorations in the wings
waiting to tackle which I need to fund, so that, and the fact that I'm not getting
any younger, or thinner apparently, both factors when riding the SS any
distance, has lead me to the decision that it's time to let the SS move
on to it's next lucky custodian.
The valves have been adjusted, carbs are balanced and synchronized, oil
has been changed (religiously every 1,000 miles) just
fill up with fuel, find your favourite twisty road and go experience
motorcycling nirvana...
I have many more pictures and can take any you may
require. Winning bid price does not include crating or freight which are the
responsibility of the buyer. I was unable to figure out how to make the shipping info display
correctly, I will ship the bike worldwide at the buyers expense, not
just to Canada. I am happy to help in sourcing those
services if required..

. or just come for a visit and ride it home.
This is a wonderful opportunity to become the next caretaker of a
very unique and special motorcycle... one of only 774 that have ever,
or will ever, exist.
Good luck in your bidding, I have loved this bike since the moment I got it... you will too.
(production number from Ian Faloon's "Ducati 900 Bible")
