Seller Description
Made in Canada for only the 1960 year, this is based on the Ford Falcon. It was made to give their Mercury dealers in Canada something to sell until the Comet came out in 1961. My understanding is that it is a Ford Falcon except, to distinguish it from the Falcon the ford dealerships were selling in Canada, it was given a different grill, different tail lights and Canadian badging including nine maple leafs at various places around the car.Because it is a Canadianized Falcon, the parts are easy to get and inexpensive as for a 1960Ford Falcon. It has a carb rebuilt in September 2018, the 144 engine, and the Fordomatic automatic transmission.New seat covers and headliner, new metal in the body and floor and new paint in 2012. There are two slight imperfections in the paint where the painter must have touched it with something before painting it. The photos were taken in September, 2018 except the two blemish photos which were taken on November 12th. The snow caught me by surprise, but the car will be going into the garage next week. The car hadn’t been driven since 2013. In Sept 2018 we checked the fluids, bled the brakes, had the carb rebuilt, fired her up, and drove her around the block. She seems to be running fine. The dash says 82764 which is about [hidden information] kilometers, but it is 58 years old, so who knows. The 144 cubic inch engine runs fine.Comes with the 4 whitewall tires on it, 4 more in storage, and about 6 that are not whitewall. Comes with the 1960 Frontenac shop manual and the 60 - 62 Falcon and Comet shop manual. Comes with the four dog dish hubcaps with the original red maple leafs and four dog dish Ford hubcaps.
It always rode fine, but several years ago when I had it at a garage for carburetor work, they said I should consider these additional repairs: Left control arm, stabilizer pin, upper ball joint, lower ball joint going (might come with control arm). Right upper ball joint and lower. Right idler arm and bushing. It hasn't been driven more than 20 miles since that time. That summer it was put away and has been away ever since. You should weld something under the radiator to strengthen the radiator support where part of the support has rusted through. There is also a security system in the car.
